The annual Wind River Cellars Holiday in Mexico is less than seven weeks away and I think about it every time I punch down the remaining fermenting Cab Franc, Lemberger and Syrah (Which all smell fantastic). Monday, April 06, 2009. As most of you have heard, Wind River Cellars received two gold medals and a "Best Red" award at the 2009 Capital Food and Wine Festival. I haven't had the gold medals bronzed yet but I certainly will. Following the festival I headed to Montana and Idaho on official winery business, leaving Employee of the Month Runner-Up, Ryan to host the many visitors that have decided Winter is over. Monday, October 26, 2009. 2009 Grapes are in! This has been a great harvest. Horse Heaven Tempranillo came in a week earlier than normal, as did all of the other varieties. Looking back at my journals I noticed that I crushed Merlot on October 20th in 1997. The last two years we've had Merlot harvested by September 20th. This whole global warming thing is wonderful! Sauvie Island Coffee Company. Monday, November 30, 2009. 1 cup (2.4 dl) Sauvie Island Coffee's Espresso Blend. 2 cups vodka (40-50% or 80-100 proof). 1/2 vanilla bean split lengthwise. Make a fresh brew of espresso coffee . Add the sugar. After cooling, add the vanilla bean and vodka. Transfer to a bottle.
