A Relevant Life - a retirement voyage: August 2012

A Relevant Life - a retirement voyage. Sunday, August 19, 2012. Then came all of the research as to which dinghy to get, IF we were going to do so. We looked at EVERYTHING! We even went to the Miami boat show to look at them first hand. (Ironically, the Miami boat show vendors aren't very interested in displaying little boats - not enough revenue possibilities compared to the more expensive items they could sell. A Relevant Life - a retirement voyage. Sunday, December 2, 2012. Christmas Parade Weekend at TLM. I know it has been a long time since I posted, but I have been busy on the other blog ( excuses, escuses). So, anyway. this weekend the annual Christmas Parade celebration. We have had Christmas parades in weather so cold that you did not want to get out of the boat. But this weekend, the weather was beautiful. So Travis Lake Marina did things right! This was the leader in the boat parade last night. It ...

A Relevant Life - a retirement voyage: Boat Three
http://arelevantlife.blogspot.com/2012/09/boat-three.html
A Relevant Life - a retirement voyage. Thursday, September 20, 2012. Just a quick note to say I actually tried out boat #3 about three weekends ago. Philip thought this might be a useful mode of transportation while cruising in the ICW or on the rivers. so we bought one. I am not graceful getting in or out, but then neither is Philip. (No pictures of this, thank goodness.) But I did row all the way over to Starnes Island and back. Posted by A Relevant Life. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

A Relevant Life - a retirement voyage: March 2013
http://arelevantlife.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
A Relevant Life - a retirement voyage. Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Yikes - two months since my last post. But, we have been busy. Philip put in two new batteries. Not easy. These suckers are heavy. That's why it's good to have friends in the marina who are willing to help. He added fuses to the batteries also. Then he added a battery selector switch and installed it to the area just below the bench in the salon for easy access. And put in the new water pump. I am almost to zipper installation. Arghhh.

A Relevant Life - a retirement voyage. Tuesday, July 17, 2012. Weekend at the Lake. Well two exciting things happened this weekend:. 1 Philip accomplised the first half of the water pump repair (remember back in the spring when this broke and we had to be towed back into the marina from the middle of the lake? Well he got the first half of this finished on Sunday. This picture does not do justice to the uncomfortable position he has to get in to do some of these repairs! This is the other end of the cour...

A Relevant Life - a retirement voyage. Thursday, December 29, 2011. Since we are still making plans about how/when to begin actively participating in the Great Loop exploration, we are having to think about where to move the boat. Since she sits in a land locked Texas lake, the only thing we can do is have her hauled somewhere (yes, we are saving our pennies for the boat hauler! Looking from the office toward the covered slips. The transient slips -temporarily full of sailboats. We drove to Birminghan an...
