http://wine-scamp.com/tag/santa-barbara
Wine, wine, wine, and more wine. Tag Archives: Santa Barbara. WBC14: Panel of Santa Barbara Winemakers. Santa Barbara/San Ynes/Santa Rita are among some of my favorite California regions — I’ve never had a bad wine from this place — so it was both a pleasure to know that the Wine Blogging Conference 2014 would be held here, and also that they kicked off Friday with a panel of Santa Barbara winemakers. Richard Sanford of Alma Rosa Winery and Vineyards. Ken Brown of Ken Brown Wines. Why are you still here?

Wine, wine, wine, and more wine. It tastes especially great when drunk out of a pint glass from one of the best open source conferences around. Is it a shandy? It it beer soda? Wine, wine, wine, and more wine. Tasting Trader Joe’s Grand Reserve Carneros Lot #23 Pinot Noir 2014. I rarely remember which TJ’s grand reserve Pinot I really like when I’m at TJ’s, but I’m nearly positive it was the Carneros a few years back. I remember it being light, silky, and structured enough to be interesting, but not so interesting that it had to be enjoyed thoughtfully, if that makes any sense. And tagged pinot noir. July 11, 2016. That said, all the bottles retail at a price that’s in my...

Greg Drinks: 2006 Sainte-Croix Vin de Pays D'oc
http://gregdrinks.blogspot.com/2009/03/2006-sainte-croix-vin-de-pays-doc.html
Tuesday, March 31, 2009. 2006 Sainte-Croix Vin de Pays D'oc. This wine is 50% syrah and 50% merlot. The nose is big with black fruits and hints of fennel and anise. On the palate it is a little thin with a very short finish. It has a nice acidity that attacks the palate in a pleasant way. Flavors of black cherries, blackberries and brambleberries hit you right up front. A nice 87 point effort for only $5! Vin de pays doc. Im glad you liked it as much as I did. Thanks for your tasting notes and video!
Greg Drinks: April 2008

Tuesday, April 29, 2008. I tasted another red wine from the Dark Continent. The 2005 Neil Ellis Sincerely Shiraz. I think I liked the pinotage I had the other night better, but it was all right. It had a gorgeous dark purple color. I really liked the nose on this one. It was chock full of blueberries! Thursday, April 24, 2008. Sunday, April 20, 2008. Saturday, April 19, 2008. Greg Drinks: 2004 Three Miners Pinot Noir
http://gregdrinks.blogspot.com/2009/03/2004-three-miners-pinot-noir.html
Sunday, March 29, 2009. 2004 Three Miners Pinot Noir. I recently tasted a very nice pinot noir from New Zealand. The 2004 Three Miners pinot noir impressed me and I would say it's about a 90-91 point wine. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I'm an organic chemist by trade. Monday, February 18, 2008. Recently I had the great fortune to taste some Turkish wines from the Turasan winery in Cappadocia. My dear friends carried them back from Turkey and served them last weekend with a Turkish feast (thank you guys). It was a very memorable evening and the wines were quite impressive. One Wine Per Week: changing direction, part one
http://www.onewineperweek.com/2014/09/changing-direction-part-one.html
Wednesday, September 3, 2014. Changing direction, part one. My son got married in June, and he and his bride honeymooned up in Napa Valley. They had an enjoyable as well as educational time which seems to have started them on the path of starting a small collection. I saw them when they returned and they gave me three bottles purchased during their journey. I was familiar with two of the wineries but had never heard of the third one. I thanked them for their generous gift. They figured something was good...
One Wine Per Week: changing direction, part two
http://www.onewineperweek.com/2014/09/changing-direction-part-two.html
Friday, September 5, 2014. Changing direction, part two. In my last post I mentioned how the gift of some very nice bottles of wine from my son and daughter in law influenced me to up my own wine budget. Around that same time, I received an e-mail from Tablas Creek Vineyards. Announcing the they had recently inaugurated a couple of new wine club options, that of red only and white only. Now wait a minute, in my previous post didn't I say Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays were my favorites? If you would like to...

Saturday, June 23, 2012. Vissani Wine Cooler / Fridge. Before I started writing this post I looked at my archive stats. Pretty pitiful. One post earlier this year. One in 2011. One in 2010. A few in 2009. A flurry in 2008 and 2007. I'm like in Sunset Boulevard, a blogger who has seen better days, haha. Well today I just felt like writing, so make it at least two (2) posts for 2012! How good could something like that be? I am too lazy to take a picture of it, but here's one I stole from Home Depot's page:.
One Wine Per Week: August 2013
http://www.onewineperweek.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 24, 2013. 2009 Villa Antinori Toscana. I'd see this wine in the bin at Costco every week and finally I decided to put one in my cart. It was $13.99. The Toscana was a nice dark purple color. Aromas were initially pretty muted, of earthy berries. I took a sip and the first impression was of a rather thin wine, more earth and minerals and stingy with the fruit, with a tannic bite. I thought maybe it needs some air. Sunday, August 18, 2013. In the mouth the first impression was of zingy aci...

Wine, wine, wine, and more wine. Tasting Erath “Dion” Pinot Gris 2013. Well, this was a pleasant surprise! I thought this was just a simple Oregon Pinot Gris that I had chilled down and forgotten about, but I pulled it out of the fridge and lo! Quick, go check the back of your fridge for some inexpertly great wine. Can’t hurt to try! May 20, 2015. Piper Sonoma Brut NV. Surely there’s a solution. Sparkling is the perfect weekday wine. It shines when chilled, and with one little pressurized stopper it ...
