Winnipeg Cyclist: St. Adolphe... almost.
http://winnipegcyclist.blogspot.com/2010/03/st-adolphe-almost.html
Just some of my adventures as a cyclist, husband, father and whatever else I choose to write about. Saturday, March 27, 2010. St Adolphe. almost. One reason why I wanted to head out that way was it follows the Red River, which is very high this time of year (not as high as last year when the roads were flooded out). As I came up to the turn to go over the river, I saw a barricade. So naturally I went through it and rode the very loose, and very rough gravel road up to the bridge. Ryan they say the bridge...

purple potatoes and herring: Fish Sauce for Dipping
http://salutogenicsteve.blogspot.com/2014/06/fish-sauce-for-dipping.html
Purple potatoes and herring. Monday, 2 June 2014. Fish Sauce for Dipping. You know that stuff that you get at the Vietnamese place that's in a little bowl with floaty carrots? It's called fish sauce, but it's not the same as the fish sauce you get in the store. It's actually very diluted and sweetened. Also if you can use this to dump on to noodle bowls. Here's the recipe:. Fish Sauce (for Dipping). Small handful of grated carrot. 2 cloves garlic (crushed and minced). 6 Tbsp fish sauce (use Squid Brand).

purple potatoes and herring: eating out
http://salutogenicsteve.blogspot.com/2012/03/eating-out.html
Purple potatoes and herring. Friday, 9 March 2012. Well, here's a tricky one. The UK in general has a bit of a bad reputation in the food department and despite my generally large appetite and forgiving palate, I must say that reputation is probably deserved. Sadly, Scotland, as a nation, may have an even worse reputation. 119 Victoria Road, Torry, Aberdeen AB11 9LX. 57 West Regent Street, Glasgow G2 2AE. The But n' Ben. Labels: best of scotland. Winnipeg Cyclist: June 2010
http://winnipegcyclist.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Just some of my adventures as a cyclist, husband, father and whatever else I choose to write about. Monday, June 21, 2010. Tooth Lake Fly Fishing Trip. I had almost forgotten how much fun fly fishing can be. Earlier this year, I went up to Selkirk with my Dad to try to get a catfish or well. anything. Dad got a freshwater drum. I got skunked. Still had good company though, and we had a couple of "Canada's best hotdog" at Half Moon. In Lockport. So all things considered, it was still a good night. Not onl...

http://winnipegcyclist.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Just some of my adventures as a cyclist, husband, father and whatever else I choose to write about. Wednesday, July 8, 2009. Well, Jess still hasn't squeezed the baby out yet, so we went to the race tonight. She wanted to come watch me race, so we brought Abby too. It was a little hectic getting out to the park on time, I left work shortly after 4:00, and a couple of minutes into my ride home. BANG! Well, on to the race. Picture of me after lap 1. Abby pointing at something:. Next race is July 29th.

purple potatoes and herring: Spring Rolls
http://salutogenicsteve.blogspot.com/2014/06/spring-rolls.html
Purple potatoes and herring. Monday, 2 June 2014. Many years ago a friend of mine and I took a Vietnamese cooking class through one of those adult education flyers you get from the City recreation department. I had never done one of these things, so it was pleasant surprise when I found out the class was no-nonsense and we came in and got straight to the cooking. So here are the recipes, which you can play around with to create a number of very nice Vietnamese meals. 1 bag of clear noodles. I usually use...

purple potatoes and herring: December 2011
http://salutogenicsteve.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Purple potatoes and herring. Thursday, 22 December 2011. The best of scotland. I've been thinking that it might be fun to do a little series of blog entries over the holidays and perhaps beyond (while I still have free time) about my experience living here in Scotland. With that sentiment in mind, I've decided to do a few 'best of Scotland' entries that will expose my own tastes and reflect a few of my (mostly positive) opinions on my life here.
