From Five to Seven. Tuesday, September 6, 2011. Last Thursday school started. I am enjoying the quiet- I have only 2 daycare kids here now, rather than 8-9 kids here each weekday throughout the summer! Preston and Hawi were both nervous about starting middle school (6th grade). Hawi was especially nervous- in fact, up until the day before school started she kept telling me that she was not going to go. The weather is pretty chilly here. Hawi wore a t-shirt, a hoodie, a jacket and gloves this morning!

From Five to Seven. Sunday, October 23, 2011. Today we made caramel apples. The kids had good attitudes while making them- and were very excited to eat their creations. Big, red apples, mini M&M's, Reese's Pieces and sprinkles. I forgot to take a picture of the apples before we started eating them.so here's a view of what was left after everyone had their fill (for now, I'm sure we'll eat more tonight! From Five to Seven. Monday, December 5, 2011. Over the past few months H and M have experienced some "firsts". Misikir's 12th Birthday in September. Hawi's 13th Birthday in November. Hawi's 1st choir concert in November- she intentionally slouched behind the girl in front of her so we couldn't see her! She did a great job even though we couldn't see her :). January 25, 2012. As I was deep cleaning the laundry room this morning (don't be jealous, this happens maybe. Once a year) I felt a bit of a draft coming from the back door. What in the world? Why is the door open? To let the dog out to go potty.of course? I should have realized! Missy Sue is getting creative these days. On the off chance you can't tell, this is not a real dog, but her 2 in. tall plastic toy dog. We even fed it lunch today. I'm such a nice mom. :0). She is hearing me laughing.

January 2, 2012. It has been a wonderful Christmas vacation (period). Sometimes when I see the words -NO SCHOOL- I dread what is coming next. However, this year has been quite enjoyable. We have had a mix of relaxation and activity. Our time off started with Christmas "eve eve" where Adam played his trumpet in a brass quartet at our church service. There is one of my favorite followers out there (ahem, Jeremy) who sees this as my future, done by my children nonetheless. They may be getting bigger, like almost taller than me, but they won't be able to outwit me (yet! Often in the house. Really, I'm just praising the good 'ole Lord from keeping me sane and some.
