The Winslow Arts Trust (WAT) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing the history and culture of the Historic Route 66 corridor and the Winslow area to the general public. WAT was created in 2010 by La Posada Hotel. The 7,000-square-foot museum will feature both historic spaces and contemporary art galleries. Lorenzo Hubble Rug - Winslow Arts Trust

Posted on July 10, 2014 by Winslow Arts Trust. In 2010, La Posada owner Allan Affeldt purchased and donated the Lorenzo Hubble Rug to WAT. This rug was woven by Navajo weaver Julia Joe and her family in 1932. At 26-by-36 feet, it is the largest single loom Navajo weaving in existence. In 2014 WAT assisted Winslow Artist Tina Mion and the Coconino Center for the Arts to exhibit the Memento Mori show of Mion’s artwork. WAT worked to provide transportation of the work to the museum, created models of the space to design the exhibit and provided some of the temporary walls on which the work was displayed. The 7,000-square-foot main gallery was originally the floor of the Babbitt Brothers mercantile store and, later, their grocery store.
