All My Gettings: I never used to go to bed early
http://allmygettings.blogspot.com/2012/04/i-never-used-to-go-to-bed-early.html
With all thy getting, get understanding" Proverbs 4.7. I never used to go to bed early. The joke goes something like this: one of us will text about something delicious we are eating. Pictures are optional, but encouraged. The one receiving the text will reply with "send me some! At any rate, a while back, my older brother texted me about madeleines. These guys are so delicious and so tricky to define and raise so many questions. Are they cake? Why don't more local stores sell these? And, you know what?

All My Gettings: Nearly imperceptible
http://allmygettings.blogspot.com/2012/05/nearly-imperceptible.html
With all thy getting, get understanding" Proverbs 4.7. But, this whinging aside, I did go to the temple last week. My semester's over and I've got some free time and I figured, why not? I actually had a lovely time there, as well (which is typical, but not guaranteed. I'm fickle, ok? I also had a little thought strike me. The background for this thought actually comes from one of the papers I just finished. Lovely, absolutely lovely. May 17, 2012 5:14 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Riding a bison: Books I read in 2012
http://fruitatthebottom.blogspot.com/2013/01/books-i-read-in-2012.html
This moment brought to you by manifest destiny. Books I read in 2012. Inspired by one of my favorite writer/artists David Malki! I submit to you a short list of the books I read in 2012. This list does not include books I started and did not finish, though it may include books that I finished that I started in 2011 or previously. So, for example, Dracula. Gets a place on the 2012 list, even though I started reading it back in 2008. Castle Waiting, Volume 1. Hardcover received as a gift. More overall, but...

Riding a bison: On watching football
http://fruitatthebottom.blogspot.com/2014/02/on-watching-football.html
This moment brought to you by manifest destiny. Two weeks ago I posted the following to Facebook:. I have an important announcement: If the Seahawks make it to the Superbowl, I will willingly sit down and watch a football game without my dad. For hometown pride. And for clever commercials and an excuse to eat an entire bowl of onion dip. But mostly for hometown pride. Why do I feel obligated to keep a promise idly thrown out on Facebook? Why do I actually feel invested? It occurred to me that today's Sup...

Riding a bison: Don't call him Shirley
http://fruitatthebottom.blogspot.com/2010/11/dont-call-him-shirley.html
This moment brought to you by manifest destiny. Don't call him Shirley. Many of you may already be aware that Leslie Nielsen died yesterday. Having had some impact on my enculturation as a kid and the development of my sense of humor, I thought it appropriate to write a few paragraphs on the man and his career. I can't tell." "You can tell me- I'm a doctor.". Wrapped up in a 30-minute television show. It is renowned in some circles as one of the few shows on TV never to have jumped the shark. One of my f...

Riding a bison: Gezelligheid
http://fruitatthebottom.blogspot.com/2010/12/gezelligheid.html
This moment brought to you by manifest destiny. Acts of creation combine the messy with the marvelous. It is too easy, and perhaps too common, to step back and observe a final product and say: Ah! Creativity. Creation. The Created. And I am a witness! The Created that we perceive is actually the final moment in a process that involved conception, design, structuring, rehearsal, building, destroying, bleeding, and a multitude of other elements and efforts that often stay hidden behind their final fa.
