Urban Wilderness: February 2015

Eddee Daniel Fine Art. Thursday, February 26, 2015. Art, Artifice and Nature at Starved Rock State Park. It's been over a year since my last visit, but this was my fourth trip to Starved Rock State Park in Illinois. As I've said in previous posts. Due to its proximity to Chicago, as well as the spectacular scenery, Starved Rock is one of the busiest parks in the country. It can receive 4 million visitors in a year. In January the two primary draws are eagles and ice. But what draws me to return so often?

Urban Wilderness: An urban hike along Milwaukee's lakefront with Brew City Safari
http://urbanwilderness-eddee.blogspot.com/2015/08/an-urban-hike-along-milwaukees.html
Eddee Daniel Fine Art. Tuesday, August 11, 2015. An urban hike along Milwaukee's lakefront with Brew City Safari. Was founded by Christian Matson-Alvirez three years ago. I love its tag line: "Explore. Imagine. Get lost." Its mission- to take people on hikes in Milwaukee- appears simple at first blush. Advertise a time, location and route and the people who show up take a hike. There is usually one per month. Here are a few photos from our hike. But we discovered Leif the Discoverer there as well. As...

Eddee Daniel Fine Art. Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Ruby and the Tree: Growing with 3 Bridges Park. The coincidence of these seemingly unrelated events has become intertwined for the young couple who saw in them new beginnings not only for their family but also for the community at large. Moved by the symbolism of new life and growth, they began what they intend to be an annual ritual. They agreed to let me accompany them and to share their story. Street viaduct towards the freeway underpass where 32.

Sunday, December 27, 2009. My garage has a certain. To it We haven't parked a car in it for over seven years. Half of the garage is a boathouse, the other half is a blacksmith's smithy. Needless to say, plastic never did that much for me. The paddle, I believe, is as important to one's paddling experience as the canoe. Like a hammer to a blacksmith or a fly rod to an angler, it's your primary tool to. My response is always the same: "Why do you need so many shoes? I love my bent-shaft carbon paddles....

http://canoelover.blogspot.com/2009/12/putting-up-tipi.html
Thursday, December 03, 2009. Putting Up The Tipi. So a few years ago Ken, then our Events Director, approached me about purchasing a tipi. He explained that it would be cool to use at events. Okay," said I. "How exactly would we use it? Well, it would be a good attraction.". After a few years thought about this, I think Ken just wanted a really cool tipi. Irrespective of the validity of that sentiment, I'm glad we bought it. We put it up at the Door County Sea Kayak Symposium. Spring Valley Lodges didnt ...

canoelover's blog: The All-Seeing Eye
http://canoelover.blogspot.com/2009/12/all-seeing-eye.html
Sunday, December 13, 2009. The UW. Arboretum. Is a real treat for those of us living here. It's specially wonderful when we get a ton of snow. Or 18 inches. That's fine too. Walking through the woods tends to slow me down, especially on 'shoes. Skis tend to keep me moving to0 fast to really notice things like the All-Seeing Eye on a beech tree. The Masons have infiltrated even the trees. Coincidence? Http:/ www.facebook.com/album.php? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Living is my job and my art.
