Get involved: Appleton Makerspace. What the heck is a BarCamp and why do we want one in the Fox Valley? A BarCamp has been described as an "unconference". A conference where the topics, sessions, speakers are all determined by the people who show up. Sort of like the concept of a Wiki applied to conferences. Another way to think of it is a do-it-yourself conference. You want to discuss the merits of Social Media? Scribble your topic on a piece of paper, tape it to the "Session Wall" and see who shows up!

A little over 3 years ago, a rag-tag group of techie maker types started getting together at restaurants and in each others kitchens and living rooms to mess around with Arduino. Share progress on authoring a book. Or work on a fun. Today the Distributed Hacker/Maker Network has 119 people on it's mailing list. Get involved: Appleton Makerspace. I made a copper thing. It ended up resembling a withered tree. Used stranded wire, CAT5 wire, heavy gauge solid core wire, and silver solder. I also fashioned my first makeshift light box to unclutter the background and diffuse the light of my photos. Made light box from a small styrofoam cooler. Cut sides out with a coping saw blade. Get involved: Appleton Makerspace. Arduino , MOSFET , iRobot wheels. Using the great Physical Computing tutorials. At nyu.edu I was able to put together a MOSFET that allows the low voltage Arduino to control a higher voltage (6v) circuit. Next up, Josh Bressers. Attended the grand opening of the Milwaukee Makerspace on 4/9/2011. Hundreds of people were in attendance checking out the space and the mini Maker Fair. First table was the biodiesel demonstration. I ordered a pair of Arduino Pro Mini 3.3v, an FTDI breakout board, headers, and a couple of coin cell battery holders. Still not sure what to make. Resurrect You've got snail mail!
