Can we or should we? | courtneyhildebrand

Can we or should we? I once heard that NASA spent an obscene amount of money creating a pen that would work in space without the necessary gravity that our earthly pens require. I heard the Russian Space Program used a pencil! Whether the story is true or not, the point is the same). Are we using technology merely because we need to demonstrate just how able we are? Is the “look what I can do? 8221; mentality outweighing our “what should I do? Never Getting There…. Kumashiro in ONE page! Jul 16, 2011.

My Journey in Teaching and Learning. Just another WordPress.com site. Who’s in My Pocket July 12, 2011. 8212; renecannon @ 4:18 pm. As she progressed through her next two years of high school, I did not have the opportunity to teach her again. While she continued to struggle, she was starting to find strategies to ease some of the pressure. I saw her this year in grad dress and she hugged me, no words, just a hug. My Journey in Teaching and Learning. Just another WordPress.com site. Engagement – What the Hell Does that Mean? July 8, 2011. 8212; renecannon @ 5:55 pm. My favourite contradictions of the day:. 1 Activities do not necessarily translate into engagement, fair enough. But, “if the bum is numb, the brain is the same”? 2 I need to consider how each student learns but each student may not know how s/he learns. Well, at least my job as a teacher will never be boring! What Happens when we Listen | My Journey in Teaching and Learning

My Journey in Teaching and Learning. Just another WordPress.com site. What Happens when we Listen July 14, 2011. 8212; renecannon @ 5:56 pm. I am a talker 🙂 Not a huge surprise for all of those who know me. I make sense of everything through speech, or so I thought until recently. Today, I re-realized the power of just listening. When you listen, people who do not normally speak, choose to. When you listen, you learn about and through others’ experiences. Don’t you think I did a good job? As a teacher, ...

Who is in my Pocket? | courtneyhildebrand
https://courtneyhildebrand.wordpress.com/2011/07/12/who-is-in-my-pocket
Who is in my Pocket? Today in class we were given a rock to hold in our hand and place in our pocket. The assignment was to think of who you carry in your pocket. The student that has stuck with you, that made a difference, and that you will never forget. I knew what student that was immediately! Before we place expectations on students I think we need to look at what they deal with in a day! What is your “trying face? Never Getting There…. Jul 13, 2011. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Things I don’t know! | courtneyhildebrand

Things I don’t know! Once again I have discovered that the more you learn the more you realize how much you don’t know! Today’s discussion on engagement created more questions than answers. What does engagement look like? How do we measure it? Why would we measure it? Should we measure engagement? I think everyone knows students who are not successful in school, but you know that they will be successful in life. How do measure those skills? Should success in school relate to success in life?

Connections, chaos, and cohort. I am looking forward to the upcoming summer holidays with my family, but I am surprised at how much I am missing going to school. People who know me see that my life is usually in constant chaos, with a million things on the go. The thing most people may not realize is that I prefer it this way! I had such a great time over the last three weeks! Kumashiro in ONE page! Jul 25, 2011. You are so right, Courtney! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.
