Far More Than Rubies

Saturday, August 15, 2015. One thousand posts ago I sat down at my college laptop to tap out some thoughts that were rolling through my little head. I was 21 years old, just graduated from college, and was days away from getting married and moving out of my childhood home for the first time. This blog has followed us through Ian's grad school and my perilous job search. This blog has been my voice as we moved from Orlando, to Nashville, to Richmond, to Vancouver, to Buraimi, and then to Abu Dhabi. And th...

Far More Than Rubies: March 2015

http://witheagerhands.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Wednesday, March 18, 2015. Lukes Birth Story- Fast and Furious. I am so excited to announce that our son is here! Born February 25th, 2015. 7 lbs 8 oz. On Saturday, February 21st, I had timeable contractions at four minutes apart for sixty seconds for more than two hours. I thought it was the real deal but Ian convinced me to try and get some rest if they weren't painful yet. I got up off of the couch and the contractions immediately stopped. Boo. I told Ian and my mom that I wanted to stay at home at le...

Far More Than Rubies: February 2015

http://witheagerhands.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, February 18, 2015. Day in the Life Of. I'm 38.5 weeks pregnant and have a 2 year old and a 3.5 year old daughter, so things are bound to change day by day. This is what a typical stay at home day looks like for us though, or as typical as it can get! 6:30 I wake up on my own and try not to move do that the rest of the house doesn't wake up. I play Candy Crush on my phone and try not to flip around. As a side note, Thursday's are the only day of the week where we stay home. Three days a wee...

Far More Than Rubies: Trying New Things

http://witheagerhands.blogspot.com/2015/08/trying-new-things.html

Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Having lived overseas for five years now (! There are so many things that cease to be exotic and new. In fact, most days are boring and normal. As boring and normal as things can be with three little ones, I suppose! After time you can no longer afford to do touristy things and the things that you have done are old hat. We've tried a few new things lately though that have helped us remember why it's great to live in our city! Ian and I went on a date to a puzzle chamber! We ar...

Far More Than Rubies: {Luke} Two Months

http://witheagerhands.blogspot.com/2015/05/luke-two-months.html

Monday, May 4, 2015. Happy Two Months, Luke James! This past month has been slow and quiet for our little man. Would you believe I actually had to look through my phone pictures to figure out what happened? It was a great month, just not superbly memorable. The girls started back to school and we just were finding our routine as a family of five. Luke smiled for the first time on April 2nd, Grace's birthday. Luke went to the waterpark for the first time (and got sunburn on one side of his face!

me and three: The Load Out

http://meandthreee.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-load-out.html

And one more makes four. Wednesday, 12 August 2015. Last cloth nappy load. We are eight weeks shy of using cloth nappies for eight full years in this house (give or take the need for disposables when the cloths were being shipped across continents). And that was before Joey got a hold of them). But still I am loathe to throw them out, so they are going to the Aladdin's Cave of Oma's house till AunTia or some other sibling requires some spares. 12 August 2015 at 20:04. The Lucky Layman's: Mother's Day 2015

http://thelaymanfamily.blogspot.com/2015/05/mothers-day-2015.html

Not lucky in anything special, just incredibly blessed by God! How lucky we are! Monday, May 11, 2015. We had a family-filled Mother's Day weekend, with just enough relaxation, busyness, and quality time to make for a pretty perfect weekend. Friday night we just hung out at home and I snuggled some chunky baby toes while Elyse helped Hubby mow the yard. And let's be honest, that didn't last for long so after I put Nora to bed, Elyse and I played CandyLand before bedtime. On Mother's Day Sunday we were jo...

me and three: Hey Sandy

http://meandthreee.blogspot.com/2015/08/hey-sandy.html

And one more makes four. Sunday, 16 August 2015. On Friday morning our German influence doubled with the arrival of my Tante (Oma came two weeks ago) and a suitcase full of German sausage, German chocolate, German Haribo and home-made schnaps. To be honest, an hour and a half after her flight landed and with still no sign of her at arrivals, I have to confess I was slightly worried that all that pork and Customs wasn't mixing very well. The view from the top. Comfier than an elephant! Much fun with the k...

Poverty Triumphant: July 2013

http://povertytriumphant.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 30, 2013. A Walk Through Malawi. This is the first trip I have been on, since starting my blog, that I haven't been able to post while out of country. It was a little weird. And since this blog is as much for myself as anyone else, can I walk you through Malawi? Sing a song and she will light up. My heart melted as I sat down next to her. Tuesday, July 9, 2013. As I find myself ready to leave for yet another trip overseas, I find myself often being asked, once again, the question I have str...

Poverty Triumphant: April 2014

http://povertytriumphant.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 17, 2014. Two Passions: My story. I found myself loving the kids I worked with, the families I met through them, the community these families formed together. This work led me to pursuing pediatrics in my nursing career where I got to learn more about these kids and continue to interact with them during some of their more challenging periods of life. I was hooked. This, more than most things, is what broke my heart. Long story short: I'm going back, but not with empty hands.

Poverty Triumphant: What do you do?

http://povertytriumphant.blogspot.com/2013/08/what-do-you-do.html

Tuesday, August 20, 2013. What do you do? What do you do when you come home from Africa? What do you say? What do you do? How do you fit yourself back into the person you were before? I've done this 5 times now. You'd think I'd know the answer. You miss the faces, the little hands in yours, the smiles, the hugs, the love. You cherish the relationships you built with your team and partners overseas. You marvel at the memories of selflessness and the giving spirits of those who have nothing by our standards.

Chasing down our dreams with eager feet. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Family) Wells State Park – Sturbridge. July 24, 2015. Summer vacation means more family time, and we used that time at the start of July for a hike at Wells State Park in Sturbridge. I’ve written a few posts in the past about hiking here; it’s a massive property with fairly long trails, and it’s possible to get over 6 miles of hiking in a day fairly easily as I demonstrated in a prior post. With Eagle's Wings

Saturday, November 16, 2013. Looking for God in unexpected ways. What a delightful thought. Some people might be happy to hear from God in that fashion. The problem is that we might not acknowledge it. Since people are bombarded with emails they don’t get around to answering. Fortunately, that isn’t the way God communicates with us. God communicates with God’s people in silence, and through the written word in the Bible all the time. The author wrote this advice:. She promptly answered her own question.
