With Good Grace

The freely given, unmerited favor and love of God". Sunday, August 22, 2010. The Burden for Youth. I can recall so clearly the way I and my peers had thrown ourselves so whole-heartedly into our relationship with God when we were that age, and then I saw how many of us turned our backs fully on God as young adults, and how very few of us have returned to God now, even 20 years later. They trust in God, of course. Of course. Sunday, August 15, 2010. These times rarely have anything to do with doubting God...

With Good Grace: A Fickle Sort

http://withgoodgrace.blogspot.com/2010/05/fickle-sort.html

The freely given, unmerited favor and love of God". Monday, May 31, 2010. It seems to me that there are those who find themselves happily following God when times are easy, giving glory and praise for the good fortune; and then there are others who lean most on God when things are rough, fasting and praying and depending on God for sustenance and support. What appalls me is that I am so fickle in my devotion to the God of my life. When I am unfaithful? As always, I think I may have gone one step forward ...

With Good Grace: April 2010

http://withgoodgrace.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

The freely given, unmerited favor and love of God". Thursday, April 29, 2010. Clear Answers to Prayer. This is a strangely tough post to write. God really showed up here today, providing clear answers to a prayer that Preston and I offered up last night, and it seems extraordinarily important to me that I tell this story correctly. To God be the glory, after all. Preston decided recently that we should make an effort to pray together (a novel thought after 10 years of marriage, yes? My theology, as usual...

With Good Grace: Adventures in Fasting

http://withgoodgrace.blogspot.com/2010/05/adventures-in-fasting.html

The freely given, unmerited favor and love of God". Tuesday, May 4, 2010. Until recently, fasting never struck me as a serious discipline in the pursuit of God. Sure, I know Jesus did it, but really, a 40-day fast seems a bit unobtainable for us mortals, doesn't it? Then we participated in a Sunday School group that was reading The Quest: A Ten-Week Journey Into Radical Discipleship, by Chuck Quinley. Chapter Five, to my great dismay, was on fasting. Fasting in secret, no less. For 24 hours. A whole new ...

With Good Grace: June 2010

http://withgoodgrace.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

The freely given, unmerited favor and love of God". Tuesday, June 15, 2010. The Beautiful Center Again. My disappointment over how little I gleaned from my recent time in the book of Acts has been assuaged in the most obvious of ways: by looking to Jesus, of course. Mornings) at breakfast, and we just recently began the New Testament. It was there, while eating cereal with my children, and glancing over to the side of the page where there was an illustration of John the Baptist baptizing Jesus that I...

With Good Grace: The Beautiful Center

http://withgoodgrace.blogspot.com/2010/05/beautiful-center.html

The freely given, unmerited favor and love of God". Wednesday, May 12, 2010. Everything keeps coming back to Jesus. No matter how I approach thinking about faith and religion, or the way in which I try to come at writing about God or reading about God or talking about God, the only time I end up with any clarity on the matter is when I just brush away most of the intellectual and emotional chatter and focus solely upon Jesus. After all, everything keeps coming back to Jesus. May 12, 2010 at 8:33 PM.

Southern Musings: December 2013

http://adellis.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

The musings of an almost fifty year old: Mother-at-Home; teacher by profession. Thursday, December 26, 2013. In the process of sewing the bears, I've decided to start a home business of making teddy bears and calling it Blessing Bears. My next bear will be made from left over material from various outfits I've made for Megan over the years. Then, I'll do the same for Theresa. Then I'll make some Christmas bears and hopefully I'll begin to get some orders for other bears. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Southern Musings: Independence vs Dependence

http://adellis.blogspot.com/2013/07/independence-vs-dependence.html

The musings of an almost fifty year old: Mother-at-Home; teacher by profession. Thursday, July 04, 2013. I am intrigued at how different people handle stress. With the Imp's surgery fast approaching, I find myself just wanting to either keep very busy or be very withdrawn. I'm not really wanting that in-between down time when my imagination can go wild. With inflatable minion (she's gonna love this). iTunes gift cards for her to purchase music or movies to enjoy and Amazon gift card to purchase books...

Southern Musings: April 2013

http://adellis.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

The musings of an almost fifty year old: Mother-at-Home; teacher by profession. Thursday, April 25, 2013. Ascension Press has become my favorite publisher for spiritual studies. I generically call them "Bible Studies" partially because I started with their Great Adventure Bible Timeline study. (Then studied the Gospel of Matthew and then Acts of the Apostle.) They are well prepared, the resources well produced and the courses have been an immense benefit to me on my personal journey of faith. It is hard ...

Southern Musings: Intentional Motherhood

http://adellis.blogspot.com/2014/07/intentional-motherhood.html

The musings of an almost fifty year old: Mother-at-Home; teacher by profession. Wednesday, July 09, 2014. My daughter, the Singer, recommended the book, Forming Intentional Disciples. By Sherry Weddell. Hubby has been reading it and I will read it after he's finished. But already the book has impacted my life by giving me new vocabulary. I was a stay-at-home-mom for many years, yet that title never sat well with me. Left-over 1980's feminism? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

http://adellis.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

The musings of an almost fifty year old: Mother-at-Home; teacher by profession. Wednesday, March 05, 2014. Through Facebook, I came up this site 40 Bags in 40 Days. So this is part of my Lenten Journey this year. With both girls essentially gone, Hubby working from home 90% of the time, and my home-based business, we've begun to reassign floor space for new purposes. The Imp has lost her room. She took her bed and desk to her apartment in Jacksonville, so we took down all the things from her walls. None ...

The musings of an almost fifty year old: Mother-at-Home; teacher by profession. Sunday, August 04, 2013. God Is Our Refuge. In God is my safety and glory,. The rock of my strength. Take refuge in God, all you people. Trust him at all times. Pour out your hearts before him. For God is our refuge. Hubby is coming up to the hospital after church and I'll run down to the Mass here in the hospital chapel at noon. I'm hoping to go home shortly after that so I can do some laundry and pick up milk and such f...

The US Olympic Rowing Team will compete in uniforms made in the USA. If not, what is the difference? I will be eating at Chick-Fil-A on August 1 to support Mr. Cathy's right to believe what he wants and to operate his business without the government trying to punish his business for his beliefs.
