Within the Walled Garden

Within the Walled Garden. Thursday, 6 August 2015. A NEW VINTAGE LARDER. It all started when I spotted a vintage larder in Addison's very last auction sale. It was lovely but too small for my needs. So I checked out ebay and lo and behold, there was one just the right size in Scarborough and I measured up carefully and decided it would fit in the back of the car. It had been in the same family for sixty three years. So I bought it and we had a drive out to fetch it. It was only at the end when it looked ...

Within the Walled Garden. Friday, 22 August 2014. DRYPOINT ETCHING ON PERSPEX. This is my latest "hobby". I love it. I saw it advertised in our local free paper, "The Bishop Press" and rang up to book in straight away. The sessions are run at the Town hall once a month. Downstairs is a gallery and art studio/work space. It houses the printing press donated by Tom McGuinness, one of the "Pitman Painters". This intaglio etching is a style of scratching on plexiglass with a steel pointed scriber. Here's ano...

Within the Walled Garden. Sunday, 7 December 2014. OUR STREET.The 2014 Xmas Card. Much of the urban north-east of England was developed alongside the Industrial Revolution. Railways and coal mines were the major employers of the average bloke. Our street is a "railway street". Houses for the engine drivers down one side and the stokers down the other. The manager and deputy had larger three storey houses at this end of the terraces. Colliery towns were similar. The photo was flipped and traced and. This ...

Within the Walled Garden. Thursday, 15 January 2015. KEEPING BUSY and FIGHTING OFF THE LURGY. Hello All and Happy New Year! We have had a great time this season and eaten and drunk and visited our fill. It has become cold and the ground was white for the first time the night before last but it has all gone now. The quieter times of the New Year have seen some projects started and others finished. Amongst lots of other lovely items, I received these letters from my SIL and have gessoed and lightly sanded ...

Within the Walled Garden. Wednesday, 27 May 2015. Wheelie Bin Tidy Up. We have two large wheelie bins and a small courtyard to put them in and the yard also performs as a garden, car-park and cat refuge. The first attempt to enhance the bins was a stick-on strip of camouflage. You can, of course, ignore camouflage and make them stand out with stick on sheets out of this world like cottage gardens. The next attempt at enhancement involved the willow screen. So natural looking! So easily it disintegrates!

How I Spent My Summer Vacation | Serendipitous Opportuknitty

https://heideho.wordpress.com/2014/09/06/how-i-spent-my-summer-vacation

November Post →. September 6, 2014 · 6:50 pm. How I Spent My Summer Vacation. First off, let me make this perfectly clear, it does NOT feel like we’ve had a summer vacation. We went nowhere. We didn’t learn any new skills. No novels were written, or even read, for that matter. That all being said, we did stay busy. I continued to do volunteer work every Tuesday at Furry Friends cat rescue. I do love working with the kitties and I hope to keep helping out for a long time! I made A2 a recon corps cape from...

Thursday, March 21, 2013. Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Sailor's Life For Me. The Lord of the Manor and I have a long history of boating. When I was about 13 my dad built a plywood sailboat from some plans in. But nautical things still seemed to pervade our lives. We named our business. We decorated our walls with photos of old sailboats. We collected kerosene lanterns, anchor lights, and nautical bits and bobs. This becket is on a sea chest that LOM made for Teen2 when she was little. We worked those beck...A beautif...

Amongst The Oaks: Ode to a Tree

http://amongsttheoaks.blogspot.com/2008/02/ode-to-tree.html

Thursday, February 28, 2008. Ode to a Tree. I think that I shall never see. A sight as welcoming as this tree. Which tells me I am finally home. However near or far I roam. This tree whose gnarled branches soar. Above our foolish human roar. Once crowned a meadow grassy green. Now only asphalt can be seen. Yet powerful still this tree remains,. It pulls me back from distant lanes. Patiently like a trusted friend. Guiding my journey to its end. Whether an hour, a week, a day. Knitty, Vintage and Rosy.

Amongst The Oaks: A Perfect Day Out!

http://amongsttheoaks.blogspot.com/2012/06/perfect-day-out.html

Saturday, June 9, 2012. A Perfect Day Out! Teen 2 and I had a fabulous day out today. First we visited the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park, then we stopped to watch lawn bowling as we strolled to tea at The Secret Garden, then we drove to Old Town Antiques in Pleasanton where we barely had enough time (2 hours), to see it all. We need to do this again! Thursday, June 28, 2012. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Nice places to visit. Within The Walled Garden. We Three Ginger Cats.

Amongst The Oaks: Citrus Season Gourmand Party

http://amongsttheoaks.blogspot.com/2012/03/citrus-season-gourmand-party.html

Monday, March 26, 2012. Citrus Season Gourmand Party. We've joined another Gourmand Dinner group and it was our turn to host last weekend. Since it is citrus season I decided to make it a citrus theme and every dish contained citrus of some sort. To decorate the table I made a yellow tablecloth using 108" wide fabric from the quilting section of the fabric store. Folks us it for quilt backs and it is just a thin cotton, but with a nice hem and a plain white undercloth. To pull it all together. Here is th...

Little Hot Happies →. July 7, 2014 · 7:10 pm. On Saturday we all went to the zoo. The last time we’d all gone together was in 2007! A1, A3, A2 with the seals, December 2007, I took this picture. A3, A2 and me, 2014, taken by A1! The seals were nowhere to be seen though. A2 feeding nectar to a larakeet. The heat kicked the garden into full-on grow mode and the zucchini plants are now up above my waist. Steven insists on supervising each watering, fertilizing and weeding session personally. Newer posts →. July 2, 2014 · 8:23 am. Tuesday the temperature soared into the sweltering range. Depending on the neighborhood, reports of local temperatures ranged from the low 90s to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. My DH was working but because A1 had a day off from her job we decided to pack up the girls, several friends and visit Frenchman’s Bar Park for a few hours. The ship in the background of the above picture came from Panama. Several times we spied sailors on the deck, all dressed in white. I brought a...

What Lies Within the Text « Journeying through the world of Literature

What Lies Within the Text. Journeying through the world of Literature. Stories in a line. This is an activity that was described to me recently. Telling a story in one line intrigued me and I decided to test it out below. A boy kneels in his room alone, plastered with the dust and shadows of a haunting story that keeps his eyes open and his imagination awake. A bird sits on the mantel of a home which he invaded, in search for the woman that nurtured a fallen nest and coaxed his habitat back to life.

Adventures in trying to change the world (via road trips, etc.). November 17, 2009. When I was in the Detroit area two weeks ago, I was vividly reminded of one of the most daring experiences of my former yearlong road trip, an experience which threatened to create an international incident at a time when. Today’s road trip lesson is entitled, “What to Do If You Find Yourself in a Tunnel to Canada (By Accident)”. Based on the experience mentioned above, I can confidently state that one such scenario might...
