Rising Daikon: Applying for a Japanese Work VISA
http://risingdaikon.blogspot.com/2012/03/applying-for-japanese-work-visa.html
Wednesday, March 14, 2012. Applying for a Japanese Work VISA. Applying for a Japanese work visa involves a trick any alchemist would be proud of: transmuting a CoE ( Certificate of Eligibility). Very Impressive Script of Actuation). Okay, visa isn't actually an acronym, but you do. Need a CoE before you can get a working visa for Japan. Click 'read more' to unravel the secrets of the secrety things! You may be asked to write the petition letter to the Japanese government yourself. Lame. Think of the CoE ...

Rising Daikon: The School Experience
http://risingdaikon.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-school-experience.html
Friday, October 19, 2012. What is it like to work as an ALT? Before coming to Japan, it seemed everyone had a different opinion on working at schools in Japan. I found this odd since everyone had the same job as an ALT. Seven months in, it all makes sense: your experience depends entirely on the school for which you work. Reprimanded once for looking at funny pictures on the computer. Other friends, though, routinely go on Facebook and even show event pictures to their teachers! More likely, however, you...

Saturday, November 12, 2011. A History of Japan: From Stone Age to Superpower (Henshall). In preparation for Japan, and hopefully in an effort to avoid culture shock, Ive decided on a collection of books to help me understand the country in which Ill hopefully be spending the next several years of my life. Monthly Archives: June 2013. June 20, 2013 · 1:06 am. New life in Tokyo. It’s been a long time. Last time I wrote, I was living in Kamisu. Not anymore. I’m now in Tokyo teaching at a single elementary school. It’s a drastic change from my life in Kamisu. Tokyo is busy. Really busy. It’s taken some time to adjust to my new city. I’ve found each place has their own good and bad points. Tokyo allows me more freedom and has more entertainment options, but it’s busy. Very busy. New life in Tokyo.

End of the semester. Quick update →. July 24, 2012 · 9:40 pm. I’m still working this week. It’s not such a bad thing, as I don’t have any classes to prepare for. All I have to do is help three students prepare for the second round of the Interactive English Forum. I’ll be in Korea next week. I can’t wait. The plan is to hang out with my college roommate, Dongwoo. I may even check out the Expo 2012 in Yeosu. It’s about 4 hours from Seoul, but I think it would be worth the trip. End of the semester. You ar...

Test day, hooray! New life in Tokyo →. January 30, 2013 · 7:31 am. First snow in Kamisu. I woke up Monday morning to the sound of thunder. Not a pleasant sound for someone who rides their bike to work. As I was getting ready, the thunder stopped. There was no sound of rain outside, so I figured I was in the clear. When I finally opened my shades, I saw snow. A massive flurry of heavy, wet snow. It was beautiful! I’m gonna go pick up a pizza and a movie! I do miss a real winter sometimes. I’m ta...Our son...
