Mary Family Adventures: June 2013
http://maryfamilyadventures.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 30, 2013. Here is an update about our last week in South Africa. This is our team about to leave Pilanesburg with our two safari guides, Marone and Scott. Saying goodbye to Samantha and Rodney! When we returned from our safari trip, we did a couple of days of "debriefing" to prepare to come back to the states. We spent one day at the Botanical Gardens just outside the city to reflect on all we learned throughout our time in SA. It was so beautiful and such a relaxing day. Our goal was to fin...

Mary Family Adventures: April 2013
http://maryfamilyadventures.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 23, 2013. Last weekend we had everyone here at our house for a team retreat! The purpose of our retreat was to build team unity and vision for the summer. We had fun together, spent time in prayer, and set goals for the summer. One of the highlights was having our neighbor, who is a rugby coach from New Zealand, meet us at Holliday Park for some lessons. :). Rugby is a sport foreign to many Americans but is common to South Africans. We decided to put our skills to the test. I am really exc...

Mary Family Adventures: March 2013
http://maryfamilyadventures.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 19, 2013. South Africa: round #1. Our Indianapolis friend, Samantha, and Tim, who we will be working with all summer, greeted us at the airport. It was hard to be friendly since I felt so sick! It felt great to finally get into bed that night. We awoke the next morning to jungle sounding birds, and thankfully I felt back to normal! We had a yummy breakfast at our bed and breakfast. (However, I did find a few ants in my granola! Tim and Zwai helped us navigate this huge city! One of the mos...

Mary Family Adventures: Safari!
http://maryfamilyadventures.blogspot.com/2013/06/safari.html
Monday, June 24, 2013. Our goal was to find the "Big Five" (Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Water Buffalo, and Rhino). We arrived at the Ivory Tree Lodge in awe at how beautiful the place was! After a delicious lunch we were told tea time was at 3:30pm and our evening game drive departed at 4:00pm. Thankfully the Lodge had babysitting services, so the kids hung with Alice in our room while we went out for an amazing adventure. Pilanesburg National Park was beautiful! The buffalo were too far away to get any goo...

Mary Family Adventures: Mandela, Meat, and Rugby
http://maryfamilyadventures.blogspot.com/2013/06/mandela-meat-and-rugby.html
Monday, June 10, 2013. Mandela, Meat, and Rugby. Baby, it's COLD outside! I kept hearing South Africans talking about the winter that was coming but it has been so warm that I thought we were going to get lucky. But this morning the weather just snapped and it turned cold! The guest house staff just brought me candles. :). We have had a busy couple of weeks since I last updated and only have two more weeks here! A visit to Soweto and a tour of Nelson Mandela's home, the day he was put in the hospital.

Mary Family Adventures: May 2013
http://maryfamilyadventures.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 28, 2013. We just finished our second week here in SA. Below are a few highlights. We love our team! It has been so fun getting to be in their lives. They are such an encouragement to us and serve our family by loving on Evie and William all the time. Chad had the opportunity to speak at the weekly meeting and share with about 70 students. Evie and William got new bikes! They love riding them on the tennis court at the lodge we are staying at. Please be praying for:. He did great without a c...

Sunday, June 23, 2013. The past two weeks have been full of lots of neat things, so I am going to post a little now and more hopefully tomorrow. I can't believe we leave South Africa in two days (Tuesday)! Here are the girls posing for a "last day of school" pic. This is the view form our bedroom window of the sunrise. We get to see this every morning since the kids have woken up so early here. Evie and William playing in front of our house. This is a picture of several of the Wits guys at the Joint Wint...
