W Jacobson was founded in 1946 by Wolfie Jacobson. He began in Bree St, trading mainly in kraft paper and twine. As his business grew, he relocated to Paarden Eiland, where he began converting paper. In 1979, the company was sold to Messrs Petter Lie and James Gore, who brought their experience in paper from Norway and various African countries. Their main target markets being the textile, packaging and paint industry, they rapidly expanded by acquiring more converting facilities.
