In 1989, there was only a small group of women physicians who had privileges at Norwalk Hospital. As colleagues, they became friends and would often meet for lunch in the hospital cafeteria. They soon were hosting monthly luncheons at each other’s homes. One of the original six Founding Mothers was a member of the national American Medical Women’s Association. She suggested that Fairfield County form a branch. In 1990, branch #100 of AMWA was born Women’s Medical Association of Fairfield County, Inc.
