But Papa says there will be days. There will be moments. When you won’t understand. And your Maa will be in a fix. For those moments. I’m sorry. I may have had a choice. Maybe it was meant to be. I’m learning now,. Motherhood is the longest journey of my life. Because that is part of it all. The love and the fear.

After Aru was born, Vivek sold his business (he’d been waiting to sell it for 1.5 years and finally got the right offer). We moved into a home in Windsor, after looking for months. My business had a lapse and wasn’t doing as well. The future was unknown. It still is unknown. We’ve have a higher mortgage (much higher). My business has done brilliantly from month to month and then average to below average on some months.

The stretch marks I adore, I wouldn’t try to remove them for anything in the world. The legs that splay apart as if they still know what it feels like to have a weight pushing upon them. The thinnest ankles holding so much weight, much too much weight. Perhaps anytime now, I’ll learn to look at them with love, rather than with irritation. I read this now and I realise. They are not me.

A work in progress. Page 2 of 34. September 7, 2016. I think there should a law. Mandatory. Mothers should have at least 10 days off, if not more. In a year. To stop the thinking. To be free from the routine. In these 10 days, no one should be allowed to ask them for anything, aside from if they want another martini. They shouldn’t have to answer to anyone and no one should second guess their decisions. We don’t expect staff to work all year, so why do we expect ourselves to do it? To take the risk.
