World Wide Womblies

Sunday, 20 May 2007. Over the other side to Italy. On reaching Italy – no border guards here either! We stopped at a lovely picnic site to get a closer look at these chaps! They are ‘marmotti’ or marmots. Explained to us by a lovely Italian man that we met with his daughter Maya in Agliano Terme. He hspoke perfect English with no discernible Italian accent but he did have a slight southern Irish accent as his wife is Irish and they live in Italy and Ireland! Me stuffing my face with olives! We carried on...

World Wide Womblies: Camperstops explained

http://wombleworld.blogspot.com/2007/05/camperstops-explained.html

Sunday, 20 May 2007. And here behind a restored monastery in Urbania, Italy. They are known as ‘Aires or etapes de camping-cars’ in France and ‘Aree de Sosta’ in Italy. They are identified by the official motorhome symbol. We have become quite expert at spotting these! The one at St Pee sur Nivelle charged via an automated credit card machine! So between staying free of charge at camperstops and wild or free parking we can live for very little, only diesel and food to pay for! Over the other side to Italy.

World Wide Womblies: Caspe to Barcelona

http://wombleworld.blogspot.com/2007/05/caspe-to-barcelona.html

Sunday, 20 May 2007. To get to the Mediterranean coast from Caspe you have to cross yet more mountains, ( no more brake fade, thank goodness! First glimpse of the Med at L’Hospitalet de L’Infant down the coast from Barcelona. After driving along some pretty hairy coastal roads (still a lot of steep hills/mountains dropping down to the sea! Passing some fishing villages and marinas we arrived at the campsite of Park Playa Bara near Tarragona. The following day we drove into Barcelona… and out again! I was...

World Wide Womblies: Lake Caspe

http://wombleworld.blogspot.com/2007/05/lake-caspe.html

Sunday, 20 May 2007. The following morning was bright and hot so we decided to go for a long walk round the ‘lake’ we were out for about five hours over the hottest part of the day as befits all mad dogs and Englishmen! Here are some images of the lake. Some of the wildlife …. And a blue butterfly –. A strange poppy –. Milk thistle ( a good tonic for the liver! And hounds-tongue with its seed capsules that look like flies eyes! 8230; this is me with my boots and socks off cooling my feet in the river!

World Wide Womblies: Portugal, Map of our Journey to date and Who's Out There!

http://wombleworld.blogspot.com/2007/05/portugal-map-of-our-journey-to-date-and.html

Wednesday, 2 May 2007. Portugal, Map of our Journey to date and Who's Out There! First of all, as requested by Richard I think, here is a map of our journey to date. The scenery on the Portuguese side of the mountains is stunning and seems to go on for ever. We went for a long walk with the dogs up the hills through the woods, mostly sweet chestnut plantations and pines and oaks. This massive old chestnut tree is still alive! These are not cultivated garden ones as they are growing in old woodland areas,...

The Art of G. A. West

If you're looking for pretty good pictures and stupid jokes you've come to the right place. Presented here for your browsing pleasure is a gallery of paintings and digital images I've created over the last thirty years or so. I'm nobody very interesting so a bio doesn't seem necessary. However, you might like to know that I am a once-and-future illustrator who has done work for book covers, magazines, couple of T-shirts, and a few other odds and ends. Tip: Never fry bacon when you're naked.

Saturday, January 14, 2012. I decided to assemble a top metal list of 2011 too, if for no other reason so I can praise the greatness of Locrian's latest album. I dug a lot of things on the heavier side in 2011 but wasn't sure how to classify them on the other lists, so here we go. Probably the most interesting metal/noise band for me this year was Horseback. But they (he) didn't release a full length, unless you count the excellent Gorgon Tongue. Top Metal of 2011. True Traitor, True Whore. Is black meta...

Wombling – Finding areas of rapid change. Thoughts and ramblings shared publicly. End the annual performance review: APIs to your social influence. Ok, I know, I’ve been writing about ending annual performance review for ages, and people are still doing them. My fellow SAP Mentor Prashanth Padmanabhan. Posted an interesting piece about some extracts that he’s been using to explain the impact of his social networking and how it is an effective performance indicator for use in his annual review. Multitenan...
