The first Women Gathering. Was held at St. Jude's Anglican Church in Oakville. There were eight speakers, who each spoke about their personal faiths. A musical component included Oscar Peterson's Hymn to Freedom. Our theme song ever since. Our Keynote Speaker was Sally Armstrong. A well-published foreign correspondent who spoke of the importance of women gathering to better understand our different cultures. Clearly, everyone enjoyed the day. The second Women Gathering. The seeds for Women Gathering. Were planted via an annual retreat of a small group of Oakville women who shared the Christian faith. Together they had supported a friend journeying through cancer. When health was restored they annually gathered to celebrate with their fellowship expanding to a gratitude for life itself.
