We finally got the combined results from my blood test and ultrasound, and we came back with a low risk of Down's Syndrome (about 1 in 7000). Hooray! It was such a relief and it now means that we can spread the word. So many people know already, especially our friends in Australia but now we can tell the world! Ok maybe not the world, but at least our friends and family in the UK. The question is how do we do it? 12 week scan - whoop, whoop. The good, the bad and the ugly. Courtesy of Wallpaper Vortex.

Next week for the induction, I. I don't have a birth plan as I have no idea what labour will be like and how I will cope with labour. I prefer to go with the flow, be flexible and follow the advice of the midwives. The strangest thing is getting our heads around the fact that we are going to be parents next week. How did that happen? Basil has started to prepare his work and team for his absence and I'm starting to think about all the things I wanted to get done before the baby arrives like our taxes!

I'm begging you for Mercy. On a positive note, my belly is really starting to protrude, so much so that friends are asking Basil if I am pregnant. My pregnancy is really the worst kept secret! I don't mind, I actually love people knowing and if it all goes pear-shaped, then I know I will have a lot of support. One weird symptom that I think is pregnancy related is that I am suffering from a sore tailbone! I may get some looks but at least I will be comfortable! From Tasmania with Love. Think I just want ...

Basil and I are thrilled to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter Emilia Ruby who arrived Thursday 9th October weighing 2.8kg and measuring 50 cm. One week on we are all doing well and love our little girl dearly. I hope to write posts about my labour experience and The First Week soon and I intend to keep my blog going as my pregnancy was one part of our journey into becoming parents. Wind me up. Grrrrrr. Glad you are going well. If the baby is a little on the small side and healthy that can only be a good thing for you and your lady bits Mama! People always used to say I was small, I think all women carry babies differently. There are those crazy flat pregnancies where people don't even know they're pregnant. I must admit when someone said I was small I was tempted to teach them a lesson by saying 'omg, do you think something is wrong? Haha I might try that one! The Two Week Wait.

Basil and I had our first antenatal class last week and I have to say I was looking forward to it. Talking to friends (and my hairdresser! There seems to be several negative opinions about antenatal classes and their usefulness. I think we both went in there with a fairly open mind but not really knowing what to expect. The first class was about natural labour and pain. Anet Balaskas called Active Birth. She talks about giving birth in positions that aid childbirth (squatting, on all-fours) rather than m...

When the cat is away. M and I also tried out the swimming pool at Maribyrnong which has this lovely excerise hydro-pool. Nice and warm but not too hot so ideal for mums-to-be. Once we got over the smell of chips and urine(! So it really has been a busy week. I do enjoy having time to myself as I know I will not really have anytime to myself once Joey comes along so I am making the most of the opportunity. However, I can't wait for Basil to come.
