A Tucson music blog. Saturday, January 07, 2012. Top albums of 2011. If you agree—in any way—that "Hell Broke Luce" in 2011, then. Is the record to turn to for some wisdom and advice amid the chaos. Dark, preposterous, incensed and confrontational,. Encapsulates a year that saw misery boil over into anger. The message Waits delivers, through stomps and shouts: This year's optimism is found in revolt. 2 The War on Drugs,. Adam Granduciel takes some cues from Dylan and Springsteen, but. 3 Wye Oak,. Rock Candy Mountain Sinferno. I’ve had a good couple of weekends, and this impending one seems to have that recipe as well. I have to be at work soon, so this is going to be brief, but then, I’ve always been a fan of brevity. It was great. Good people (no coincidence they were largely Arizonans), good food and ahhh, the laughs. I met Shankara Chase (a TS Lounge regular) and then we went to a bar. I think. Hazy. I had called in sick to work so that I could stay until Monday (I love Presidents too) and the...

Olympians Want More Water. Part One: My Catering Life. My weekend was eventful. On Friday, I worked for my stepbrother’s father who caters major events in the Phoenix Metro area. I worked at America West Arena on the same night that his company was catering the Pixies at Dodge Theater. America West had the darlings of U.S. Olympic gymnastics. Could have been worse. I was supposed to work the smooth jazz fest the next day. More on that later. A roadie minor league? Where they begin, where they come to die.

North Country: Fairly Frigid. Speaking of Canada, I went recently, which means I visited every country in an entire continent in the course of one week. I was in Puerto Peñasco days before Christmas, AZ to WA on Christmas Day, and B.C. days after. Such a feat could only be made simpler by visiting Antarctica, but I still feel somewhat accomplished. It was a good day. Anyway more to come. Posted by Zackataca at 2:13 PM. Time and Space Lounge. A Year Following The Break-up. Tales from the front desk.

Provocative Speck: pillow talk
http://provocativespeck.blogspot.com/2006/03/pillow-talk.html
I just bought, for the first time ever, a pillow. Two, actually, and I'm cursing myself for not doing it sooner. I've always had hand-me-downs, the most recent of which is this lumpy monstrosity that feels something like sleeping on an emaciated cat with clumps of fur matted to its skin. Its not furry though. I don't know why I waited so long. I think I figured they'd be more expensive than the seven bucks each I dropped at Sears. I want to try them out, but I'm too excited to sleep. It's July, the dead of summer, and sometimes, at night, I have to wear a sweatshirt and possibly a jacket just to be comfortable. Summer, to me, has always been a time of intense heat and finding ways to relieve it, because when you do, it feels so good. I miss that intensity. How do people experience their intensity here? Posted by Zackataca at 12:30 PM. Posted by Zackataca at 1:14 PM. What I mean is: why document these tiny slivers of human existence? I'm not a teacher: only a fellow-traveller of whom ...

The neighbors two houses down where making booms that didn't sound like they could be bought in stores. Apparently they were making them out of empty gas cans and sparklers. The neighborhood was shaking and it was basically just air pressure. It was a fun night and I barely left my backyard. Posted by Zackataca at 1:14 PM. Time and Space Lounge.
