擅於演繹 薛腔 尤其鍾愛林家聲前輩從 薛腔 衍生出來的一種自然、淡雅的唱腔。 研究範圍包括戲曲文學、歷史及唱腔與拍和藝術，著述文章如 從唐代傳奇霍小玉傳到現世粵劇紫釵記 、 薛腔的特色和發展 從薛覺先到林家聲 、 粵語韻腹長短區別在粵曲唱法上的體現 、 音樂老師王勝焜談芳艷芬 、 朱慶祥口述朱氏三雄歷史 、 粵劇拍和的演變 及 粵曲拍和縱橫談 系列等，並常常在學術講座發表心得及定期在戲曲期刊撰寫文章。 現為香港作曲家及作詞家協會(CASH)會員，部分作品包括 紅樓夢之讀西廂 、 樓台會之回十八 及 完璧歸趙 等。 近年對推廣粵曲粵樂更不遺餘力, 除為教育局 中小學粵曲推廣計劃 常任導師及經常擔任專上學府如香港中文大學和香港教育學院之客席導師外，又應邀身兼教育局粵劇課程發展實驗小組委員，並代撰寫中小學粵曲課程教材曲。
