Segmented Bowls

Handmade Wooden Segmented Woodturnings. Maple and Walnut Checkerboard Bowl. I won a Juror's Award , at the Art in Common Annual Juried Art exhibition Artists in our Midst at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art Altoona, PA. with this bowl. This segmented bowl is 9 in diameter and 4 tall. It has 177 pieces. The woods used are Curley Maple, (also called Tiger Maple) and Black Walnut. It is finished with several coats of hand rubbed oil. Y ellowheart and Purpleheart Bowl. Sold - Starbuck Collection.

Woodland, PA USA. Making Hardwood Feel Soft. Some examples of my one piece wooden bowls. These turned bowls are art exhibition quality. They are handcrafted by me in my Woodland, PA workshop. Most of them are made from exotic hardwoods and involve many hours of finish work, having a glass smooth texture. Bubinga - an Exotic African Rosewood. Very nice bowl, Lots of figure in this wood. Doc's Tool Review or The Wall of Shame. My rating system is simple. I want a tool to work, right out of the box and to last longer than a couple of years, and give me accurate results. My milling machine was made before I was born, so was my metal lathe. They both work perfectly. Cheap (and it works some of the time). Grizzly 12 Disk Sander.
