At the heart of the city. There is no disagreement that Vancouver’s DTES neighborhood is comprised of a high concentration of low-income families and individuals, homeless people, and drug addicts. There is little social diversity in the residents that call the area home and in this fact some envision a solution to addressing the issues plaguing this neighborhood. A neighborhood homeless shelter. で，オープンハウスがありました。シェルターは，空いていた2階建てのオフィスビルを利用し，ウェストエンド地区に初めて開設されたもので，4月までの期間限定です。我々が，玄関を入って階段を上って行くと，バンクーバー市の職員と，実質的な運営を行うボランティア組織" Rain. この2階部分には，1室に40のマットレスが並べてあります。室内には，洗濯機と乾燥機が2台ずつ設置され，ほかに，バスルーム，TVラウンジが併設されています。1階はショッピングカートやペット用のストレージです。また，室内では，コーヒーとティーのサービスがあります。1日2回の食事は，別の場所で調理されて運ばれてきます。 このブログでは，ホームレス問題の話題が続きますが，実際に，バンクーバー市における最大の問題がホームレス問題であり，現市長 グレゴール・ ロバートソン Gregor Robertson.
