Blogging Outside My Lane. Saturday, July 11, 2015. Every Day in Every Way, I Get it Done! Every day in every way. I get it done! I get it done! I see a lot of people when I jog at 4:30 in the morning, more than you'd think would be up at that hour. We never stop and introduce ourselves- that would break our rhythm and be a bit scary, but I do name the ones who are up with me at that pre-dawn hour. Hide in a Hood Man. Walk in Woman's Wig. Girl with Pooping Dog. Blink, Shine and Shuffle. I get it done!

Blogging Outside My Lane. Saturday, July 26, 2014. Put Down Your Finger and Back Away from Your Opinion. Opinions are like belly buttons. Everyone has one. I come from a very opinionated family. We have opinions about our opinions. We like to "go on the record" or like the people in the old Saturday Night Live skit: "Talk Amongst Ourselves." I could chalk it up to our Irish blood, but that would probably be a cop-out. I mean Y ou can tell an Irishman, but you can't tell him much. I asked, puzzled. He was...

Blogging Outside My Lane. Saturday, January 25, 2014. Captain Phillips wasn't in my neighborhood this past week, but Captain Jack was. He looked like a dachshund-pit bull mix and at first I thought he was dirty, but then it turned out he was a smeared brindle color. He was short and stocky with the broad pit bull head. What are you doing there little fella? I said aloud in my car as I rolled down my window. Maybe I should stop? Then I had this distinct thought:. What if this were your dog? I pulled ahead...

Blogging Outside My Lane. Saturday, May 24, 2014. Baby in a Bathtub: An Image of a Joyful God. I just had a silly image of God pop up in my mind. It didn't fit with my conservative Baptist upbringing because it is childish and goofy. But I couldn't help it- former USC Philosophy professor Dallas Willard made me think of God this way. Anyway, here is the image:. Pretty silly, huh? I am reading Dallas Willard's book The Divine Conspiracy (. Get the book here! Life and that he is full of joy. Yes, now THAT ...

Blogging Outside My Lane. Monday, February 24, 2014. Lizard Jumping: My Spiritual Reality. I received a card recently from someone who wrote these words inside: "Your spiritual life has a reality to it." I took it as a compliment because I think I know what this person meant. Before you think I am getting a big head, let me explain. I mean, for goodness sake, just floor it and you'll leave Gabriel in the dust! Jesus Who was/is he? Why did he come to earth? Did he really rise from the dead? I'll be honest...

Blogging Outside My Lane. Saturday, September 28, 2013. 238 Minutes I Can't Get Back. There a certain things you just have to do as an American. You have to see a Yankees Red Sox game. You have to mow someone else's lawn. Usually, when you're a teenager. You have to say the Pledge of Allegiance with a Boy Scout leading it. And you have to watch the movie "Gone With the Wind.". What a complete waste of time. But I just can't like anyone in the movie. That is where "Gone With the Wind" really let me down&#...

Blogging Outside My Lane. Saturday, September 27, 2014. Always on the move. This is the way a friend of mine described herself. So what DO you slow down for? She seemed a little confused by my question, but thought about it for a minute and then responded:. It made me think. What do I slow down for? If you know me, I am a person on the move. Like my Dad, I am always "up to something" and will probably die in motion. Yeah, you guessed it- in motion. Golfing. At least he wasn't ski-jumping. Yes, life is.

Blogging Outside My Lane. Saturday, November 30, 2013. You Too, Annie. Continue on North Harbor Drive for 3.3 miles.". In 100 feet, turn right on Nibitz Blvd.". You have arrived at your destination.". My Dad pulls into the parking lot and coasts into the first open spot. I can almost hear my Dad mumble in his head,"Annie's not real, honey; Annie's not real. You don't have to thank her.". But he keeps his mouth shut. Because he is kind. And it makes my Mom happy. And darn it, if that isn't what love is?

Blogging Outside My Lane. Saturday, March 22, 2014. The Zombie Killer in All of Us. My 12 year old nephew recently introduced me to the show "The Walking Dead" on AMC. The doctor asks. What is there to live for out there? Didn't you hear me? The WHOLE WORLD IS GONE! His question is answered this way:. We want a choice. We want a chance. My friends, that is called HOPE. And at the risk of sounding like I have a big head (since Hope is my name) I ask you this - What do we have if we don't have HOPE? Http:/...
