working mom ravings

A forum for me, a 40ish working mother to rave about what's good, bad and indifferent about my lot in life. Technorati Profile. Sunday, March 04, 2007. I tumble, therefore I am. A few weeks ago, I signed my girls up for a gymnastics class. It's the first organized activity I've created for them - ever. Up until now, I didn't think they had the maturity, or the attention span, to really get something out it. And it takes me back to my own brief gymnastics career. My 15 minutes of athletic fame came in six...

A forum for me, a 40ish working mother to rave about what's good, bad and indifferent about my lot in life. Technorati Profile. Monday, January 23, 2006. Somebody very wise once wrote that the best way to soothe a troubled child is to "lend them your calm.". My poor J was overtired tonight and wound herself up into a state that even a strawberry ice pop couldn't cure it. It was that bad. Oh, I am in such a bad mood and I can't stop! She still didn't stop, and she needed a second time out with the door cl...

working mom ravings: Reflections on a lost dream

http://workingmomravings.blogspot.com/2006/08/reflections-on-lost-dream.html

A forum for me, a 40ish working mother to rave about what's good, bad and indifferent about my lot in life. Technorati Profile. Thursday, August 17, 2006. Reflections on a lost dream. We were so excited that morning. After a miscarriage at 7 weeks, we were quickly pregnant again, and the first two sonograms confirmed a steady heartbeat. I was starting to tentatively wear maternity clothes, mostly because I just wanted to, to prove to myself that I was really pregnant. Your baby has very serious defects a...

A forum for me, a 40ish working mother to rave about what's good, bad and indifferent about my lot in life. Technorati Profile. Wednesday, October 11, 2006. Ever since my twins were born in 2000, there have been agonizing moments when I wondered if being a working mother was the right path for me to take. Nevermind the fact that I really couldn't afford not. On bad days, it seemed like I'd made a huge, insurmountable mistake. Which leads me to today. I attended my first Executive Moms. Luncheon, and foun...

A forum for me, a 40ish working mother to rave about what's good, bad and indifferent about my lot in life. Technorati Profile. Thursday, October 27, 2005. The Power of 5. Five has always been a meaningful number for me. There are five children in my family, my parents were married on Nov. 5, 1955 and it has always conjured up in my mind a vision of a boisterous childhood, and of having more than enough. Until my twin daughters turned 5 earlier this year, that is. It’s gotten so bad that I’m nearly willi...

fitz happens: September 2006

http://fitzhappens.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html

Ramblings from a women with twins and breast cancer survivor. Saturday, September 30, 2006. I decided to play hookey. I decided to play hookey this morning. I had signed up for the KOMEN 5K walk and was going to do the warm up with my Jazzercise buddies. But last night I just didn't want to go. I don't know why either. I wanted to stay home with my family. Links to this post. Sunday, September 10, 2006. My babies are growing up. My babies started kindergarten last week. Where did the time go? I am I miss...

http://fitzhappens.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html

Ramblings from a women with twins and breast cancer survivor. Wednesday, May 24, 2006. I don't have to see my oncologist again for 3 whole months! That is the best news. I won't have to have blood drawn or poked with needles for another 3 months! Life is good when this is a major milestone. People always ask how I am doing, did they get it all, am I okay now. I know that they are caring and for the most part concerned. But for some reason, it bothers me and I don't know why. Links to this post. The fourt...

Ramblings from a women with twins and breast cancer survivor. Friday, July 28, 2006. It is just not fair. Sometimes life is just not fair. I think I have written about this before. I think of all of the injustices around me, in my life, in my community, in the US and in the world. Why do these things happen? Do we bring them upon ourselves? No, I don't think so. What makes us keep going? What makes get out of bed every morning and carry on? Links to this post. Wednesday, July 26, 2006. You may think this...

fitz happens: The end of an Era

http://fitzhappens.blogspot.com/2006/12/end-of-era.html

Ramblings from a women with twins and breast cancer survivor. Tuesday, December 26, 2006. The end of an Era. The other day marked the end of an Era for me. My first internet chat board is shutting down. It is my Jazzercise board. Originally named www.physcial.com. We hear a lot about support groups and how important they are for people. I think it is the social aspect. Because our communities are more spread out and we don't socialize on an intimate level with our neighbors, these groups have fil...40-so...

Ramblings from a women with twins and breast cancer survivor. Tuesday, July 03, 2007. Where have you been? I guess seven months has been too long to be away. Where have I been? Ramblings from a women with twins and breast cancer survivor. Wednesday, November 22, 2006. I am struggling right now with a moral decision. I am raising my husbands grand-nephew. His bio mother has no bond with him. Never did. I doubt it will change. The bad news is that she is pregnant again. She is hell bent on keeping it. The family is livid. We don't think she should. http://fitzhappens.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html

Ramblings from a women with twins and breast cancer survivor. Tuesday, June 27, 2006. I have decided that Cancer is like a hurricane. Some storms are a category 1 or 2 and we make it through with very little damage. When the storms are 3,4, or 5 it beats us down. It may take years to rebuild or eventually destroy us. Sometimes we get a small reprieve in the eye of the hurricane which is called 'remission' or 'no evidence of disease'. For cancer survivors it is always Hurricane season. Links to this post.

Ramblings from a women with twins and breast cancer survivor. Friday, January 05, 2007. A day that will live in infamy. I am sure we have all heard these words uttered by our former President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Americans at that time must have felt that they had been sucker punched. In my life I felt the same way on September 11Th, 2001. A day that was like no other that I had experienced. So many lost their lives on both days. Heart breaking. A loss of a child is the worst loss. This little boy live...

Working and Cooking through life one meal at a time. March 15, 2013. It’s been awhile since I last posted! Life and work have kept me on my toes and quite busy before and after school so I’ve had to do some serious meal planning over the last few weeks. Yesterday I finally had a moment to be still and actually plan a meal that was rather delicious if I might say so myself. Wait….this isn’t a post about parenting its about crescent rolls…. 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. 1 can of crescent rolls. Preheat...

Working mom ravings 2. The musings/ravings of a mother of twins, full-time marketer, former reporter, emerging social networker. Tuesday, May 26, 2009. The art of sitting still. When I attended college back in the 1980s, I majored in nothing. Well, it was English Literature and Rhetoric, but essentially, my primary focus was after-hours parties and social networking. And after that, a nap. In a world of multi-tasking and laptops and Blackberrys and soccer practice and dance lessons and in-your-face, up-t...

It's like running a gauntlet, and only the strong survive! Leave “good luck” behind. May 7, 2013. So I’ve decided that I’m going to steer clear of telling my children “good luck.” At first thought, that probably sounds a little mean. But there’s a part of me that feels like saying good luck means you think they. Instead, I’m going to replace “good luck” with things like:. You’ve got this! Working Motherhood and other redundancies. Thoughts and musings from the crazy world of Eli and Lena's mom. Monday, October 26, 2009. Lena had her 2nd birthday recently. She is really growing up and isn't a baby anymore. Well, she's still little, but that doesn't stop her from doing big-kid things.
