Sunday, March 30, 2008. By faith Abel, by faith Enoch, by faith Noah, by faith Abraham and Sarah . . . All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth . . . they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them. By faith Abraham, b. As told in the ...

Springfield Church Blog: Even the Waves
http://springfieldchurchofchrist.blogspot.com/2008/07/even-waves.html
Sunday, July 20, 2008. That day when evening came, [Jesus] said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.”. Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown? Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. As we m...

Sunday, December 30, 2007. Thoughts for the New Year. Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless;. Maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy;. Deliver them from the hand of the wicked. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. Hebrews 13: 1-3, 16).

Sunday, February 17, 2008. Some Facts about Acts. It’s not a fact that Luke wrote Acts, but evidence points us in that direction. Here are some facts:. Acts was written on a Papyrus roll (35 to 40 feet long). Both Luke and Acts are about the same length in material. Luke is the longest book in the New Testament. Acts is the second longest book in the NT. Themes in Luke are continued in Acts:. 1) Favorable attitude towards Samaritans (Luke 9:52-56; 17:11-19; Acts 8). Posted by Dave Parker.

Ruminations of a perambulent and distracted sojourner. Thursday, August 28, 2008. I got quite attached to my little Asus eee laptop while travelling. The size of a paperback book, it did everything I wanted - lots of photo storage, web, email, office suite - everything. Alas, it's advantage is also a disadvantage - it's small enough to steal and that's what happened to it in the post church service chaos of last Sunday. Then I came across this story in Anthony de Mello's. The Prayer of the Frog. The thie...
