Today we got up at 7:30 to get ready for breakfast. We ate eggs, pinto, pastries, pancakes, and fruit. Once we finished breakfast, a few people went to play volleyball while the others played cards. Saturday, May 14, 2011. Today LFa students hiked the city of Ollantaytambo and the surrounding area, learning about how the Incas built the city. Much of Ollantaytambo is exactly how it has been for over 500 years, and families still live in houses built by this great civilization. Here is a good photo of the first of what will be many hikes in the mountains of the sacred valley. They are adjusting to the altitude well. Tomorrow we head up the mountain to Patacancha. Sunday, May 22, 2011. After a long week of work, today was our final day. We began work at 9:00 and then journeyed to all the houses help finish. We had to put plastic on the roof of the greenhouses, but that required measuring and cutting the plastic and then making sure it was put evenly on the house.
