Worldly Whys

Thursday, July 17, 2008. Asia France. America. This posting is not much about INSEAD and may offend you if you are French. Please trust that it is not my intention to offend anyone. Saturday, July 5, 2008. P3 at INSEAD is over and we are 60% of the way through the course, although what I like about the January intake is that we are only 50% of the way through the INSEAD experience due to the 8 week summer break. Then there were exams, perfectly coordinated with the first day of good weather in France....

Worldly Whys: Of Eggs and Dragons

http://worldlywhys.blogspot.com/2008/02/of-eggs-and-dragons.html

Monday, February 11, 2008. Of Eggs and Dragons. Its been 2 weeks and 1 day since my last blog. I apologise. As the utter, total and complete incompetence and sporadicity of my fellow bloggers Acipiter Nisus (is this an anagram? So where should I begin? I'll let you know how Dragon Week was on Sunday. As the utter, total and complete incompetence and sporadicity of my fellow bloggers Acipiter Nisus (is this an anagram? Thanks for the vote of confidence and show of blogging support. Worldly Whys: February 2008

http://worldlywhys.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html

Saturday, February 16, 2008. Getting accepted to an INSEAD MBA. As for the rest of Dragon Week at INSEAD - it was pretty decent to be fair. The amphi-storming was pretty awesome, I especially enjoyed the canto-pop and fast paced "China Rising type" presentation. The Dragon Dance was good and so was the Forbidden Party at the Forbidden City. Now I need to negotiate a way to include pictures that dont reveal identities but I promise soon I will get pictures on here too. Monday, February 11, 2008. And Phath...

Worldly Whys: December 2007

http://worldlywhys.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html

Monday, December 24, 2007. This is my first time. As I start a new journey to an MBA and get some much needed time away from the 9 to who-knows-when at the office, I thought it was a great time to catalogue my thoughts and experiences. On Jan 7th 2008 I start at INSEAD in Singapore and by May hope to be in Fontainebleau, France. I hope to share here my travels, my conversations and my thoughts over the next year and hopefully beyond. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Worldly Whys: I've been INSEAD wacced

http://worldlywhys.blogspot.com/2008/04/ive-been-insead-wacced.html

Saturday, April 19, 2008. I've been INSEAD wacced. So there you have it, I have summarised everything I have learnt since we last met. Oh yes and apparently there is a Blue Ocean out there somewhere. It's Blue and full of water, let that be a lesson to you. More INSEAD madness has ensued in the form of the Great INSEAD Dash - you MUST watch it on www.alex-lili.blogspot.com. Well, my brain is full, my stomach is fuller and I'm off to Paris in 10 days. Too much too quickly. Btw I am doing an internship in ...

Worldly Whys: Allo from Le Foret

http://worldlywhys.blogspot.com/2008/05/allo-from-le-foret.html

Tuesday, May 27, 2008. Allo from Le Foret. Depending on where in the world you are reading this. I am in the forest of Fontainebleau. About 12 km from INSEAD's. Original Europe campus. As evident from this blog, I was part of the 153 strong cohort that begun the MBA in Singapore and has moved to Fontainebleau. Strangely though the biggest difference is in the human atmosphere around campus. This place is large (2x Singapore Campus) and people dont. Boring even myself with these descriptives.

Bluey Road To MBA - INSEAD. In pursuit of dreams - the excitement, the uncertainty, the adrenaline, the stress, the parties, the panda eyes, the pride, and the prejudice. Monday, October 22, 2007. Have been occupied by all the preparation work prior to departure to France. To be a R3 admit means I have few weeks to arrange for financing before the deposit deadline, ie. bank loans, personal loan, lottery (in my dream.), and to arrange for housing at Fonty etc. Will write more on financing later. Bluey Road To MBA - INSEAD. In pursuit of dreams - the excitement, the uncertainty, the adrenaline, the stress, the parties, the panda eyes, the pride, and the prejudice. Tuesday, March 25, 2008. Attached to our original examination answer booklets, INSEAD provides a summary of how we fare against the rest of the classes taught by the same professor for each module, ie, our Z-score in a normal distribution against the mean Z-score of 2.50. Bluey Road To MBA - INSEAD. In pursuit of dreams - the excitement, the uncertainty, the adrenaline, the stress, the parties, the panda eyes, the pride, and the prejudice. Thursday, January 17, 2008. First 2 weeks @ INSEAD. One grows the most when placed in a challenging position outside the comfort zone. While the transition could be tiring, I believe my school fee and opportunity cost will proved to be well invested. How's the acclimation going? Getting along with your group? Bluey Road To MBA - INSEAD. In pursuit of dreams - the excitement, the uncertainty, the adrenaline, the stress, the parties, the panda eyes, the pride, and the prejudice. Saturday, May 26, 2007. Asian female in Global MBA. Generally female forms on average 25%-30% of most MBA student communities. On average, Asian students represents less than 20% of the MBA student population. There are, however, more active MBA bloggers who are female. Of course, it should be well expected of any working MBA applicant .

http://flyingalongonacurrentofhotair.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Flying along on a current of hot air. Saturday, 8 March 2008. INSEAD Singapore - Review of P1. Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.' We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? Having said that, while not in the league of Necromonger (by the way Necro, how is Fonty? B) Furthermore, in the follow up UDJ lecture, the pr...

A J08’s step-by-step guide on how not to live out your year at INSEAD. Archive for November, 2008. November 5, 2008. Dawn is hours from breaking, and darkness shrouds a clouded sky. Put one foot in front of the other. What the fuck, are you serious? A canvas of brittle, browned leaves blankets the trail, offering shelter to treacherous sinkholes and ankle-twisting branches. Put one foot in front of the other. Each breath lances the lungs. Each step jolts the spine. Each mile torments the legs. The ragged...

Worldly weirdness

Tuesday, 20 February 2007. If there was a duck Olympics, I'd be putting money on the UK's very own Stumpy from the New Forest to blow the competition away in 2012. Stumpy has hatched with four legs thanks to a rare mutation that will probably have creationists spitting feathers. Nicky Janaway, owner of the farm where Stumpy currently resides, showed a quickness of mind belying his rural station: "I was thinking 'he's got too many legs' and I kept counting 'one, two, three, four,'". Still, it's more than ...

It's a worldly wide world

It's a worldly wide world. Get to know it! Tuesday, March 4, 2008. Crisis on the Great Colombia. In the early 1800s, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Panama were one country. This "Republic of Colombia" only lasted about a dozen years and was Simón Bolívar's dream of a unified nation. Now, this notion seems not only distant but also shocking in two ways. Hostile feelings between Venezuelans and Ecuadorians toward Colombians started to rise, because they related all the Colombians to the guerrilla- and dr...

Worldly Winds - Poetry

For my Mum…. I looked through the window,. I thought I saw you;. Just a hint of a memory. That I wanted to view. A past life once lived;. A deep memory pain. I had to control myself. From calling your name. Her walk was all wrong. And her hair, not the same,. But she had the same clothes. As I saw in my dream. I followed behind her. And hoped to see. That it really was you. As you used to be. I knew it was futile. And couldn't be true;. You've been gone these six years,. It couldn't be you. Now that Nati...
