Worthing Wanderer

Tuesday, 11 August 2015. Denbigh and the Ystrad Valley. View of Clwydian Range. There are two in the same volume of the Pathfinder Guides. Former North Wales Hospital. The path now took up a position alongside the river and provided a couple of miles of delightful walking. The river bubbled away below us and the air was full of buzzing insects all making the most of this beautiful summer’s day. We soon passed by a distinct mound – a burial mound maybe? Worthing Wanderer: 06/01/2014 - 07/01/2014

http://worthingwanderer.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, 28 June 2014. This year I seem to have been doing walks little and often. Getting out to do the big expeditions has been very difficult due to family commitments but instead I have been enjoying early morning Sunday walks a lot more locally. In fact considering I have lived in Worthing for 14 years I am still surprised at how many local walks I haven’t done and I am very keen to redress this over the coming months. Yet, in many respects this ridge of the Downs has more to commend it. The main r...

Saturday, 24 January 2015. Paddington Trails - Christmas Trail. The Bear of London. At Covent Garden I handed over from the Year of the Bus Westminster Trail to the Paddington Christmas Trail. This was set up less formally than the bus trail and almost immediately I had some trouble finding the elusive bears. There were two housed at Covent Garden but I didn’t find it for some time as it was largely hidden by all the Christmas shopping crowds. I did have more luck with the one along the road at Picadilly...

Thursday, 27 November 2014. Firle Beacon and Charleston Farmhouse. Time this autumn has not been a great friend to me as I seem to have had precious little of it. I have had too few walks and too little time to write them up. Hence with this one I am actually scrolling back almost two months to when the weather was warmer and there were still hints of summer temperatures in the air. So it was that I found myself with an afternoon to spare and some pretty decent weather that cried out for a Downland walk.

Worthing Wanderer: Belloc's Mill

http://worthingwanderer.blogspot.com/2015/08/bellocs-mill.html

Thursday, 6 August 2015. View From Tree Platform. The main purpose of the platform is for wildlife watchers but there was precious little about for us to view. Perhaps it is a better facility when there is less foliage on the trees? Down one side of the path was a very large deer fence – they are obviously not welcome in the surrounding agricultural land. The path passes the castle at some distance away and out past a rather lovely looking lodge house. We wandered down to Kneppmill Pond, a surprising...

Sunday, 4 October 2015. Sharks show promise with epic opening game! The Sharks finally kicked off the 2015/16 season in the first week of October travelling to Brighton to face Brighton Freedom, one of the top teams in the league last year. Unlike last year were there was lots of scrambling to pull together six players, this year they went with a full complement of seven, ready and raring to go. Down at the first time out they pulled it back to 23:23. But again pulling back to 23:23. Fourth set was with ...
