Tuesday, May 28, 2013. Visiting Santorini, Greece has been a dream of mine for a long time. I’ve seen all those gorgeous photos of the white buildings with their blue-domed roofs. And the water, it’s the bluest of anyplace I’ve ever seen – in the photos, that is. The fact that this was a port on this itinerary had a lot to do with our decision to book this cruise. It’s a tender port because there is no pier. I blinked my eyes to try to clear them. No – those are houses up there! That part is as advertised.

We'll fly to Barcelona where we will spend the night before boarding the Serenade of the Seas on May 19. Monday, May 20, 2013. Villafranche, Nice, and Eze. Our arrival into Villefranche was scheduled for 9:00 AM. We set our wake-up call for 8:15. Since we have no window, we rely on Channel 40 for information from the bridge and the bridgecam. On the map it looked like we were way out in the Sea a long way from Villefranche, which we thought was strange. We double-checked the itinerary; it’s Monday, May 20 alright. We got up and prepared to go to breakfast. Hmmm, something doesn’t seem right. Oh no, not that!

Friday, May 24, 2013. Our day started in Livorno, Italy, where we were safely docked after skipping the storm in Villefranche. The weather was cool and drizzly. There was a shuttle into downtown Livorno, for 10 Euros each round trip, but it didn’t really go anyplace interesting.
