Confessions of a Female Urologist: King's Singers
http://writewong.blogspot.com/2007/02/kings-singers.html
Confessions of a Female Urologist. Everything you ever wanted to know about Your Parts but were afraid to ask. Saturday, February 24, 2007. For those of you who don't know, the King's Singers are a group of six British men who sing a wide range of repertoire with impeccable musicianship and seamless harmony. Each of them has a rich solo voice, but when they sing together - wow. The proverbial chorus of angels. And they killed us, to the far horizon. Confessions of a Female Urologist. Everything you ever wanted to know about Your Parts but were afraid to ask. Friday, February 23, 2007. Son of "Hiatus Ended". And it paid off VERY well, as I've made a pretty good impression on my superiors with my case preparation and fund of knowledge, hopefully ensuring that my next three years of residency will pass in relative peace. Confessions of a Female Urologist: Operation Baghdad
http://writewong.blogspot.com/2007/02/operation-baghdad.html
Confessions of a Female Urologist. Everything you ever wanted to know about Your Parts but were afraid to ask. Monday, February 26, 2007. I don't think I realized until today the full extent to which doctors can do battle in their patients bodies. Surgeons have an old habit of labeling bodies who haven't yet been cut "virgins". It's an attestation to purity - to flesh unsullied by the scarring that results from previous invasions. But not unlike a sculptor who can envision a figure within a chunk of marb...

Confessions of a Female Urologist. Everything you ever wanted to know about Your Parts but were afraid to ask. Sunday, March 04, 2007. When Home Call is a Bad Call. I like my bed. That's one of the reasons I chose urology as a specialty. It ends up being a kind of a russian roulette model of work. Of respite that kill you. The minute, the. That you start dreaming of being able to go home to take a shower, or lay down on the couch to take a nap, you're doomed. Because it's at that critical point when ...

Musings and reflections of composer Joseph Gregorio. Monday, January 25, 2010. Haiti relief concert: huge success! And thank you, Frederica von Stade. The benefit concert for Haiti I mentioned the other day took place last night, and was a huge success. It raised over $30,000 for earthquake relief efforts. Zane Fiala and the IOC did a wonderful job with my Dona nobis pacem. The new Cathedral of Christ the Light. And a glorious acoustic for choral music. Wednesday, January 20, 2010. Musings and reflections of composer Joseph Gregorio. Friday, October 29, 2010. I've been remiss in blogging lately. However, I have a bigger entry cooking concerning counterpoint, its place in a composer's training, and what I think might be a new way of looking at it altogether. Hope to have it up in a few days. Gregorian Rant: Moving out.
http://joe-re-mi.blogspot.com/2012/01/moving.html
Musings and reflections of composer Joseph Gregorio. Friday, January 20, 2012. I'm moving my blog to gregorianrant.wordpress.com. All of my old entries on this blog are being duplicated there, making it rather comically look like I've had an incredibly prolific day of blogging on the new site. I'll leave the old entries here as long as Blogger lets me, but there will be no new posts here. Ciao! August 29, 2012 at 3:45 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Gregorian Rant: October 2009
http://joe-re-mi.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Musings and reflections of composer Joseph Gregorio. Thursday, October 22, 2009. I heart conferences- you [composers] should too! Who's unhappy in his/her job and/or moving to a new one? Who's being considered for such-and-such a post? Conductors love to know these things.). I can't urge my fellow composers of choral music enough to attend such conferences whenever they can. Seek out your niche(s), composers, and go make a splash. I will be attending the NCCO conference at Yale in a couple of weeks, and ...

Musings and reflections of composer Joseph Gregorio. Thursday, September 23, 2010. On the road.concert update. I wish I had enough brain power to put together something more substantial.for now, I don't, but I think that'll change in the coming weeks. A beautiful motet for women's voices; a lush new piece by Colin Britt called The House of Clouds. For choir and orchestra, which sets the eponymous poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning; and Vivaldi's Gloria. Also on the program were my own Five Whitman Songs.
Gregorian Rant: March 2010

Musings and reflections of composer Joseph Gregorio. Friday, March 19, 2010. Catholic liturgical music.blech. How did the church go from chant, which casts a spell and inspires wonder when performed well, and the great choral Masses by composers like Josquin, Lasso, and Mozart, to the banal droning of organ, cantor, priest, and (occasionally) congregation so often heard in Catholic services today? Go listen to a gospel choir sing. You haven't lived until you've seen and heard a gospel choir. You ...I spe...

Musings and reflections of composer Joseph Gregorio. Wednesday, January 5, 2011. I'm sitting here, utterly unprepared for the trip I'm about to take, lamenting how much I will miss my family while I'm gone.and yet, it seems the right time to make a blog entry. Don't ask why. I don't know. I'm headed back to California for the first part of the Cornell University Glee Club's concert tour. Men's choral piece I wrote for my wife that I had premiered at our wedding. If you're in CA, and want to try and catch...

Boomer in Blogworld | Thoughts from a woman of a Certain Age
Thoughts from a woman of a Certain Age. Tonight Khadifi is on the run. Does this remind anyone else of the night Hussein fell? The resisters stomping on the statues built to immortalize the greatness of the leader? Stealing from the man’s bedroom? Don’t get me wrong, it couldn’t happen to a more worthy target. How many of his fellow citizens has he killed? Can we, as Americans, even imagine such an experience? I wish them the best. On August 24, 2011 at 4:15 am Leave a Comment. I’m content because ...
