Thoughts from commercial and editorial photographer Fred Greaves on photography, Mac computers, iPhones, iPods, kids, and life in general. Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Packing to go out of town. I am out of town for the next week on an overseas shoot. I am hoping to post during my time that I am gone. but that all depends upon how crazy the schedule gets. Each shoot is also different, so each time I have to weigh what to bring, and what to leave home. So I don't even want to think about what it would be ...

Thoughts from commercial and editorial photographer Fred Greaves on photography, Mac computers, iPhones, iPods, kids, and life in general. Wednesday, January 14, 2009. Drobo and Time Machine. a match made on the Mac. So that first Time Machine backup is about 400gb. Figure I'm using a 750gb drive and right there, I have filled 1/2 of the drive (roughly. I know that math is not one of my strengths). And from there I am able to fill the Time Machine drive up with amazing speed. So then you go buy another h...

The Photographer's Mac: The Chair
http://photogsmac.blogspot.com/2013/08/the-chair.html
Thoughts from commercial and editorial photographer Fred Greaves on photography, Mac computers, iPhones, iPods, kids, and life in general. Tuesday, August 6, 2013. Was it the contrast between the green and red? Was it the fact that the chair, which didn't look to be in too bad of shape was abandoned in such a prickly spot amidst the cactus? I guess in some ways it reminds me of a throne and in that setting, I suppose, a throne for a particularly prickly ruler of some sort. Subscribe To This Blog. Writer ...

Thoughts from commercial and editorial photographer Fred Greaves on photography, Mac computers, iPhones, iPods, kids, and life in general. Friday, July 16, 2010. How to write a blog. Ok, so why do I not write anything here? I am sort of stuck. That is not to say that I haven't written anything negative or that points a finger, or that I won't in the future, but that I want to be fair in doing so. I might talk about the problem, or the perpetrator, but only in a way, hopefully, that points to a soluti...

Thoughts from commercial and editorial photographer Fred Greaves on photography, Mac computers, iPhones, iPods, kids, and life in general. Wednesday, August 7, 2013. Why am I using an iPad mini? A question I am asked frequently is why a photographer (me) would use an iPad mini versus a regular sized iPad. It's funny now, looking back on it, that all the reasons I dismissed the mini as suitable for me were completely WRONG. 2 Older CPU so it's slow - So it is the previous generation CPU, but so what?

Thoughts from commercial and editorial photographer Fred Greaves on photography, Mac computers, iPhones, iPods, kids, and life in general. Monday, January 19, 2009. Some of my favorite things. Here is a short list of some of the things I am using that I really like. 1 Canon PIXMA MX7600 inkjet all-in-one printer. I recently replaced my office all-in-one printer. I got the Canon PIXMA MX7600 inkjet all-in-one. I paid about $350 for it. I started using Skype. Skype also has texting (like IM) and video conf...

The Photographer's Mac: Drowning Pool

Thoughts from commercial and editorial photographer Fred Greaves on photography, Mac computers, iPhones, iPods, kids, and life in general. Thursday, August 8, 2013. These photos were some of the first I took with the X-E1's back in April when I got them. This was part of a shoot in Europe with a heavy metal band called Drowning Pool. While heavy metal is not really something that I listen to much, it was a fun tour and the guys in the band were a lot of fun to work with. And a couple of photos. Here are ...
