Months 5&6: Developing the Habit of Writing

http://writingandhealing.org/developing-the-habit-of-writing

It’s a book! Months 5&6: Developing the Habit of Writing. This is a task I didn’t have in the original framework of One Year of Writing and Healing, but as I’ve been working on revision I’ve come to think it’s important finding ways to grow the habit of writing and make it part of one’s practice. Thus, I’ve given this its own room and not just one month but two months in the scheme of the year. There are 3-4 books in particular that have been enormously helpful to me in growing my own habit of writing:.

Or with this piece about a cure cottage come to life in a short story: “The Cure” by Andrea Barrett. Or here: an enhanced version of the first chapter of my new book. Which is all about healing place. Or perhaps with one of these writing prompts:. The Body as a Healing Place. The Easiest Writing and Healing Prompt Ever. Shine by Joni Mitchell.

If I'm not writing, then I'm knitting. The musings of a woman old enough to know better, who learnt to knit and to write at about the same time. Thursday, 13 February 2014. The year of making other people's patterns. Since the age of about thirteen, I have designed my own knitting patterns.
