Writing from the Big Blue Sky. Writing from the Big Blue Sky. Moderately attention-deficit streams of consciousness from a 20-something student of the world. Monday, January 2, 2012. So, this has been a great experiment in personal blogging. And it has prompted me to move over onto an official personal blog that I can connect to my professional work as more of a "Portfolio.". Writing from the Big Blue Sky: The Air Conditioner Blues...

http://www.writingfromthebigbluesky.blogspot.com/2011/05/air-conditioner-blues.html

Writing from the Big Blue Sky. Moderately attention-deficit streams of consciousness from a 20-something student of the world. Thursday, May 12, 2011. The Air Conditioner Blues. Yesterday I got rather in a dull mood and I can’t seem to really get out of it. “Dull” really is the best way to describe it, because I feel like a pencil lead that really needs to be sharpened. The thing about me is that I am solar powered. No sun? Back to the first person. So, that is it. I am dying. I just want to crawl into a...

Writing from the Big Blue Sky: November 2011

Writing from the Big Blue Sky. Moderately attention-deficit streams of consciousness from a 20-something student of the world. Friday, November 4, 2011. I arrived here in beautiful Durango a week ago today in a rather roundabout way: flew into Albuquerque, took a 13-hour Greyhound to Grand Junction, CO, and was then picked up by Dev (another staffer) to drive down to Durango. Writing from the Big Blue Sky: January 2011

Writing from the Big Blue Sky. Moderately attention-deficit streams of consciousness from a 20-something student of the world. Tuesday, January 11, 2011. A Glimpse at the Finch Family. Once upon a time there was a family whose name was Finch. 8220;Why, they take longer to get ready, of course! Boys can do it in five minutes flat,” she reasoned, stamping her foot in front of her to hold her place in line. She pulled the rest of herself up in front of Edward. Why can’t we just get ready first, since ...

Writing from Space

Memoirs and essays from the wide, open spaces of northeastern Nevada. Tuesday, July 22, 2014. They Say We Come Into the World Afraid. They say we come into the world afraid. Of snakes no matter whether venomous. Or not. Avoidance is the way we’re made. Although this truth may have eluded us. In ignorance we may have thought our fear. A lack of fortitude or a moral flaw. But now we know about the hiss we hear. Our shuddering conforms to natural law. Today I walked along a country road. That imaginary role...

Writing From Space | Memoir, essays, and poetry from the wide, open spaces of northeastern Nevada

Memoir, essays, and poetry from the wide, open spaces of northeastern Nevada. July 31, 2015. Watch the restless swallows come and go. On the power line to Tuscarora. Some avian law explains the way. They leave precise space between each other. Instinct decrees the distance between hawks. Hunkered on poles beside the Midas Road. Nature tells peregrine falcons not to nest. Less than two miles from other raptors. What of the ranchers who inhabit. From an eagle’s view. Have willed their peace. June 18, 2015.

Writing from the edge of distraction....

Writing from the edge of distraction. Wednesday, 17 June 2015. That thing where you have been really enjoying a book: the plot, the lyrical prose, the cute dialogue. All of it. And then the writer knackers it in the last page and a half. Really, the last page and half. Mentioning no names, because spoliers, the plot is split between two main characters 50%/50%. They deserved soooo much more than that. Where was the editor, to say "Whoa there, NO."? Monday, 1 June 2015. Cue fanfare* My Summer '15 TBR Pile.
