Writing to Realize

Thoughts on Theology, Ministry, and the Arts. Tuesday, September 24, 2013. Do you know an Undercover Boss? I love “Undercover Boss”! Because it tells me about Jesus. I didn't think it was a religious show! It’s not, but I think of it as a modern-day example of what it was like for Jesus to come to earth to live with us; and it teaches us about grace. The executive explains to each employee how well he or she has done and then gives an amazing and generous gift to the employees that is a complete surprise.

Writing to Realize: Blessed are the Pure in Heart…

http://writingtorealize.blogspot.com/2009/11/blessed-are-pure-in-heart.html

Thoughts on Theology, Ministry, and the Arts. Friday, November 20, 2009. Blessed are the Pure in Heart…. For the last few weeks I have been in a small group that has been studying the Beatitudes. Recently we were discussing this verse: “Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God” (Matt. 5:8). What does it mean to be “pure in heart” and what does it mean to “see God”? Was Moses pure in heart and that’s why he was able to see God? Do we get rid of the weeds once and forever? 8221; (15:19) Saul rep...

Writing to Realize: Hide and Seek

http://writingtorealize.blogspot.com/2009/10/hide-and-seek.html

Thoughts on Theology, Ministry, and the Arts. Saturday, October 31, 2009. This is a short devotional I wrote for the Advent Devotional guide my church publishes every year. We use the daily Scripture texts from. The Book of Common Prayer,. And my selection is for Sunday, December 20, 2009.). 8217; ”. Genesis 3:8, 9. We didn’t (and still don’t) want to be abandoned! Maybe I know I’ve done something wrong, and I’m afraid something bad is going to happen as a result. In these verses in Genes...Helping other...

Writing to Realize: Do You Have Weeds in Your Garden?

http://writingtorealize.blogspot.com/2009/10/do-you-have-weeds-in-your-garden.html

Thoughts on Theology, Ministry, and the Arts. Friday, October 16, 2009. Do You Have Weeds in Your Garden? One of my favorite parables is the one about the Sower and the Four Soils ( Mark 4:1-20. It is a parable that captures our imagination with its sights (the Sower scattering the seed, the vast field with the varieties of soil), sounds (the wind blowing, the birds calling, the seeds falling on the ground), textures (the seeds, the dirt), even tastes. And he will do it! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Writing to Realize: New Year's Eve

http://writingtorealize.blogspot.com/2009/12/new-years-eve.html

Thoughts on Theology, Ministry, and the Arts. Thursday, December 31, 2009. Every year I look forward to New Year’s. To me, it means a fresh start; I can, as it were, wipe the slate clean and start new with the things I know I should be doing. With a big, obvious, starting-over date like this it is a bit easier to make up one’s mind to get started with a new routine or habit. In a way, every day is a type of New Year. Our slate is wiped clean every day. We don't have to wait for the New Year to roll around.

Writing to Realize: The Main Course: Proclaiming the Word

http://writingtorealize.blogspot.com/2011/12/main-course-proclaiming-word.html

Thoughts on Theology, Ministry, and the Arts. Tuesday, December 27, 2011. The Main Course: Proclaiming the Word. In my recent entry of November 26, I wrote about the way we are invited into God’s presence as we begin worship. What is the purpose of having the Confession and the Assurance of Pardon early in the service? Why do we have a call to worship? I hope that your mind, heart, and spirit. Were cleansed as you gathered around and prepared to hear the word and meet God. While gathering around the word.

December 11, 2011. I wasn’t prepared for the ending – some part of me thought there would be a way for them to salvage it. And desperately hoped for it. But it was destined for the rocks I guess. I hated the juxtaposition of young love with married love. Hated it. It made me want to cry and so disillusioned with the institution of marriage. I know, it’s so silly of me. But this thing called marriage sometimes seem to hurt a lot more than it brings happiness. And my favourite scene was when you and me pla...

Do you find it hard to promote this book while working on so many other projects? Would be affordable for everyone. I think my future books will really help boost the sales of Bitternest. As new readers will discover me and seek my first novel. As far as ongoing promotion is concerned, I seldom promote Bitternest.

Re: again, anew view: to see, contemplate, inspect. We Want The Same Things. I thirst, He said. John 19:28. He was on a cross—the only begotten Son of the Father, nailed to two pieces of wood—crying out. Bleeding and tortured, distraught beneath the weight of the Father’s turned face, Jesus connected with the reality of a want. God wasparched? But what was He really asking for? What is water to Living Waters as He hangs dying? I thirst, He said. I thirst. Me, too. That water is actually a. Know the love ...

Dear Rowan

Tuesday, May 10, 2011. To follow me on my new blog Abiding Andrew. Hope to see you there! Tuesday, April 19, 2011. It is almost unfathomable to think that a small group of cells that were frozen for three months grew into this precious baby. It is nothing short of a miracle and I am reminded daily as I marvel at Andrew at just how close we came to never knowing him, to never being parents, to never living this life that we have now. But, of course, I couldn't have dared imagine all this one year ago.
