Championship Week | The Altiora Chronicles
https://nchaney3.wordpress.com/2010/03/07/championship-week
Striving for the Higher Things. The wait is over. The best part of the college basketball season is here. It’s March, the weather’s warming up and the basketball’s getting better. I absolutely love March Madness. Selection Sunday is only a week away. It’s so exciting. Big East Tournament (March 8-12). Now the Panthers are led by Ashton Gibbs. Heard of him? You don’t mess with Huggie Bear. 22 points in a flash of White Lightning in the second half. Hot dog, he was impressive. (And a great end for ...I tak...

Broadening My Horizons | The Altiora Chronicles
https://nchaney3.wordpress.com/2011/02/22/broadening-my-horizons
Striving for the Higher Things. That’s right, I’m trying to branch out. I recently applied to write for a blog called Korked Bats. It was started by a couple guys who graduated from Mizzou and my roommate’s brother recently started writing for them. He encouraged me to apply, so I decided to give it a go. How will the Albert Pujols saga shake out? Obviously there are 30 possibilities, if you assume any team in Major League Baseball could sign him. But I’ll give you a few different possibilities. O The Ca...

Remember the Titans | The Altiora Chronicles
https://nchaney3.wordpress.com/2011/01/12/remember-the-titans
Striving for the Higher Things. One of my all-time favorite movies was on TV last night and I watched it. So, I begin this post with some inspiration for all from that movie…. A few things I thought about while I was watching:. 8211;That Ray guy is a real d-bag. 8211;If Coach Boone really makes those kids run all the way to Gettysburg during this scene. If the cheerleaders were truly integrating, they’d have a mix in both rows. But I’ll just give you a few gems I really like:. TC Williams beats Groveton ...

Championship Week* | The Altiora Chronicles
https://nchaney3.wordpress.com/2011/03/09/championship-week-2
Striving for the Higher Things. I hope you’re just as excited as I am. *And yes, I have used “Championship Week” as the title of a post before. Did you see that Villanova/USF game last night? The Bulls would never have a shot at making the NCAA Tourney, but what an opportunity for those kids. This is their NCAA Tournament. They can make it to the finals but, if they don’t win, they still aren’t dancing. You like the “Cinderellas” in the Big Dance? And for the players, Championship Week doesn’t suck...

Are the @Reds the most Twitter-friendly team in all of sports? | The Altiora Chronicles
https://nchaney3.wordpress.com/2012/02/24/are-the-reds-the-most-twitter-friendly-team-in-all-of-sports
Striving for the Higher Things. Are the @Reds the most Twitter-friendly team in all of sports? Plenty of sports fans follow their favorite teams. Plenty of baseball fans follow their favorite teams. There are a lot of ways to do this, but no fans can follow a team quite like Reds fans can follow theirs. By nchaney3 on February 24, 2012. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Jerry Buck | The Altiora Chronicles
https://nchaney3.wordpress.com/2011/02/07/jerry-buck
Striving for the Higher Things. Heck of a Super Bowl last night. But before we get to that, let’s talk Remember the Titans. If you recall, I expressed my love of the movie in a previous post. Well after Super Bowl XLV last night, I watched it again with four others who share my love of the film. 8211;When Coach Boone lays in to Petey after he misses the block in the first game, where in the world is the kid going? Is there another bench by the cheerleaders that he mistook for the football bench? I’...

Snow Days are the Bee’s Knees. | The Altiora Chronicles
https://nchaney3.wordpress.com/2011/02/04/snow-days-are-the-bees-knees
Striving for the Higher Things. Snow Days are the Bee’s Knees. As of Monday, I hadn’t enjoyed a snow day since gradeschool. Sitting here today, I’ve now had three in the last three days. And it’s been wonderful. Sure, there was the near Natastrophe. After enjoying some adult beverages during the evenings before snow days one and two, but the crisis was averted when I decided to walk 3.8 miles. Now on to sports, I guess. LeBron managed to win 60 games with this team. They’ll be lucky to win 20 w...8221; &...
