Aspiring to share the right kind of wisdom (James 3:17). Wednesday, December 17, 2014. The Cruelty of a Secular Christmas. Over the years, I have heard many messages, some implicit, some explicit, about the true meaning of Christmas. Most of them seem slightly irritating, but harmless: “Christmas is all about that childlike wonder," and “Christmas is about giving”. 8220;No more let sins and sorrow grow, nor thorns infest the ground. 8220;O come, Thou Day-Spring come and cheer. And death’s dark shad...

Aspiring to share the right kind of wisdom (James 3:17). Monday, July 29, 2013. Is it Biblical to ‘Surrender’? Some people may be surprised to know that not one time in the new testament, does Paul, Jesus, Peter, or anyone else encourage the Christian to ‘surrender’(see footnote 1). On another occasion, I was enthusiastically sharing some insights from a book on sanctification with a pastor, and he too saw the Christian life as one of ‘surrendering’ rather than one of battle or work. First, it speaks of ...

Aspiring to share the right kind of wisdom (James 3:17). Saturday, November 09, 2013. Real Men Drink Afternoon Coffee Part II: Stop Cultivating Failure. My last blog was a challenge to the social norms of men in our culture, in how they view their day. However, it was mostly applicable for men who are already married. However, the central principle in this blog will be the same. How do you view your day? Or are our days lived out in faithfully seeking to serve others as God leads? No, rather I want us to...

Aspiring to share the right kind of wisdom (James 3:17). Wednesday, July 29, 2015. I cleaned my room today: For the love of order. I cleaned my room today before I sat down to work. It seemed to make a big difference, and I felt a twinge of joy and satisfaction seeing all the dust-free surfaces, and the toiletries on my dresser sorted by frequency of use. To see beauty in order? Many of us strive for order in our lives, with varying results. There is only hope in Christ for any of these groups. See, the ...

All about nothing: Slowly I've learned
http://anabellle.blogspot.com/2009/06/slowly-ive-learned.html
Thursday, June 25, 2009. I've learned that growing up doesn't mean having the maturity to hold a 9-5 job. I've learned that being unique isn't something to be ashamed of. I've learned that really loving someone means accepting them for everything they are. Slowly I am learning. I'm learning that each moment is a precious gift from God and should be treated as such. I'm learning that being apart is a blessing because it shows me my capacity to love. I'm learning that I will never ever never stop learning.

All about nothing: April 2008
http://anabellle.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 23, 2008. I have three best friends. They all live further than 2 hours away from me and none of them know each other. When I was born, my grandpa was dying from lung cancer. We would visit him in the hospital; which is consequently where I learned to walk, and I would cuddle with him on his lap. I was his 'angel sent from heaven to replace him.'. I have 2 brothers and 4 sisters. None of them are biological. (I also have 3 other mothers.). My mother dropped me on my head when I was a baby.

Aspiring to share the right kind of wisdom (James 3:17). Thursday, September 05, 2013. Real Men Drink Afternoon Coffee. While I realize that there are a multitude of reasons for men to have their coffee thing in the morning, I would submit that in general, the reason is that the perception is that the biggest challenge of the day is at the beginning. This attitude is ravaging the homes of North America, and not just secular homes. Christian homes as well. So many men looking at the work they do a...IR...

Aspiring to share the right kind of wisdom (James 3:17). Saturday, April 07, 2012. A Defense of Heavy Music. My intention in this short piece is to defend heavy music for the sake of the lost and immature in Christ, that those who are mature may not alienate them in condemning their music and their subculture and in essence them. (because, if we’re honest, we all know how music can draw us in to the point where an insult to our music is an insult to us.). That being said, let us begin. To being to unders...
