About the agai - dicutta Numu. The Walker River Paiute Indian Reservation was established by executive Order on March 19, 1874 under the administration of U.S. President, Ulysses Grant. Paiute’s were the primary Tribe to settle in this area. Agai-Dicutta, in our language, means the Trout Eaters. We are the Agai-Dicutta Band of Northern Paiute Nation.

Walker River Paiute Tribe Cultural Department. We are actively working on establishing a Cultural Program for the reservation and have taken on the tasks of administrating and overseeing the application of the Native American Graves Repatriation Act, Native American Freedom of Religion Act, Historic Preservation, establishment of a Tribal Museum and overseeing the progress of the Paiute language grant from the Administration for Native Americans (ANA).

Boys and girls club - Schurz unit. The Schurz Club opened its doors on November 15, 2004 in a local elementary school. One month later, the Tribal Elders moved out of their former building, giving the Club the opportunity to move in. This provided a larger space and separate areas for the games room, education room, and arts and crafts center. The building was also closer to the community gym. After moving to the new site, the Club’s average daily attendance more than doubled.

The Walker River Paiute Tribe has established a division of the Tribal Court that is known as the Civil Court, in accordance to the Title 1 – Tribal Court, of the Tribe’s Law and Order Code. The Tribe now has jurisdiction to cite non-Indians into this Civil Court pursuant to the Tribe’s Traffic Code and any other codes or ordinances that specifically designate the Civil Court as the forum for dispute resolution actions. Tribal employment rights ordinace (TERO). The application of the TERO approach to economic development at the tribal level will incorporate existing enterprises and business first the development for the new tribal project and industries second. The concept promotes self-sufficiency through sound business practices and techniques. During any work on or near the Walker River Reservation, Indian apprentices must be hired meeting ratio requirements, which is reasonable and negotiated through the TERO Office.
