My Day on a Greenway. View Salem Lake Trail. In a larger map. The unpaved Salem Lake Trail is not technically a greenway, yet many bikers, joggers and ramblers consider it a wilder and wetter extension of Salem Creek Greenway. Hugging the 365-acre lake's irregular shoreline, the trail offers shifting views of light on water and, almost always, a glimpse of a heron quietly fishing in the shallows. There is no development beyond the pier, boat launches and fishing station by the dam.

My Day on a Greenway. Accessibility on the Greenways. Greenways can be an excellent way for those with reduced mobility or other limiting circumstances to move around outdoors. Most paths have relatively flat, paved surfaces suitable for wheelchairs, scooters and strollers. The trails allow access to the edges of woods and open fields, landscapes that would otherwise be off-limits to many. Here are some of the more accessible trails and tips on reaching them:. On sunny weekends, the parking lots can remain full all day, but the trail itself seldom feels crowded. Bordered by agricultural fields, soccer fields and a horse pasture, this trail has an appealingly open feel. 291 miles, plus two half-mile spurs at northern end. Country Club Road to Summerfield neighborhood.
