Sunday, 27 January 2008. Our trip to Winchester Cathedral was a great success. The children loved it and we had an extremely informative tour guide who led us around in groups for an hour. There are many ways to link ICT into out of school activities. A Before the trip the children spent a little time looking at the website for Winchester Cathedral, which was exciting for them in preparation for the trip and because they love using the internet. Sunday, 27 January 2008. During my third week in school I decided that I should try to use PowerPoint to introduce my lessons in order to make them more snappy. I spent a while re-learning how to use the program and managed to create 2 presentations for maths classes on Place Value that week. I think that my CTM liked the use of Power Point as it looked better than using the boards and the chn seemed to be quite engaged by it. I will use it periodically. Sunday, 27 January 2008. I recently took a year 3 class for a science lesson in which I used a lesson plan on Easyteach. Easyteach is a very useful teaching tool. It sequences the parts of the lesson with tabs at the side of the IWB so you can move through the lesson smoothly, step by step. Tuesday, 12 February 2008. In conclusion, the blog is a great diary for reviewing progress and logging thoughts and feelings in chronological order. A motivating way to encourage children to write and communicate. I think it could be used in the classroom with children to record their progress in their work, self evaluation or to keep a diary, something which perhaps is less common amongst children today.
