Wylam Playing Fields Association was founded in 1973 by a group of volunteers willing to work in the interests of maintaining and conserving the playing fields of Wylam, providing an environment in which the various sports teams and clubs can practise and flourish. These include the Wylam Rockets and Rockettes football teams, (ages 5-10), and Celtic football team (adults). The park also comprises a cricket pitch, playground and is the venue for the annual summer fair.
