Not so daily trivia: July 2009
http://dbcoover.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Not so daily trivia. Things happening with the Denver branch of the family. Wednesday, July 29, 2009. The plan was to use some 1x2" stock to pull the curves back into place. So, up the ladder and measure for 30 minutes - some for siding layouts, others for the braces. Then go down and cut the braces; drill holes so the screws don't hang up in them, place on the roof. Lunch. That pretty much worked. There's still a small bit of curvature, but it's negligible in the long run. Friday, July 24, 2009. I've ma...

Not so daily trivia. Things happening with the Denver branch of the family. Thursday, July 7, 2011. A few weeks back Fran and I went down to Old Pearl Street (the block north of Louisiana) to attend the Brew Grass Festival. We'd been to other music fests at the site in years past and always had a good time meeting up with friends, sharing a couple brews and enjoying the music. A standard Duffyroll on it. We asked for a bag for the standard rolls. It looked easy enough so I cut it out.

Not so daily trivia: August 2009
http://dbcoover.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Not so daily trivia. Things happening with the Denver branch of the family. Monday, August 24, 2009. I hopped on the bike thinking I would make a circuit of the reservoir, but ended up doing an out-and-back. I still managed to get 15.5 miles in, making my total for the year double that of last year. Given that I basically didn't ride last year, this isn't a great accomplishment. Still, I feel good and plan to triple last year's total next month. The snake was a beautiful specimen, good color, impressive ...

Not so daily trivia: Figure 8 Trip
http://dbcoover.blogspot.com/2010/09/figure-8-trip.html
Not so daily trivia. Things happening with the Denver branch of the family. Thursday, September 23, 2010. Last Wednesday, the 15th, we left Aurora heading for Boise. We headed up I-25 and picked up I-80 about two hours later. The weather was clear with a breeze blowing out of the west. All the wind-powered electricity generators we saw along the way were spinning nicely. We had a late lunch in Rock Springs and continued on to Ogden, UT where we spent the night. But we made it back with no further troubles.

http://dbcoover.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Not so daily trivia. Things happening with the Denver branch of the family. Friday, December 10, 2010. Thanksgiving in San Francisco. Should you be curious. You'll note that some pictures in the post have ben taken from the videos. The stepped-up TSA security checks had me concerned as our departure date approached. Would my diabetic supplies be picked over and challenged? Announcements were coming over the gate PA that there was an Air Traffic Control hold on our flight due to hail(! The next day we hit...

Not so daily trivia: Telescope woes
http://dbcoover.blogspot.com/2010/09/telescope-woes.html
Not so daily trivia. Things happening with the Denver branch of the family. Wednesday, September 29, 2010. The news that Jupiter was closer to Earth than it had been in some time got me off the couch to haul my small wide-angle telescope out to look at the sight. That was enjoyable enough that the next night I took out my medium-sized (a 4.5" Newtonian) for another look. That's when I found that the drive motor on the equatorial axis didn't drive the axis at all. Bummer! I found that the motor worked nor...

Not so daily trivia. Things happening with the Denver branch of the family. Monday, September 28, 2009. Yesterday on the Spillway bike path. Gopher (bull) snake, about 14 inches. Today while walking the creek between the bridges. And I'm not saying where exactly. Saturday, September 26, 2009. I really don't want to have anything to do with either of those towns, especially Aspen. We continued north on CO 119 to Nederland where we stopped for lunch at a new-looking brewery/restaurant, the. From there we d...

Not so daily trivia: November 2013

Not so daily trivia. Things happening with the Denver branch of the family. Saturday, November 30, 2013. Back in the late '60s an IBM CE related this story to a number of us on a break. He was fascinated by magnetic repulsion. You've probably seen the demonstrations where an aluminum slug is placed on a steel rod with a magnetic coil at its base. Alternating current is applied and the slug floats a distance up the rod even though it has no intrinsic magnetic properties. Tuesday, November 26, 2013. There ...

Not so daily trivia. Things happening with the Denver branch of the family. Wednesday, December 30, 2009. Only one folder to back up at the last minute and I think I'll be ready to go Forging Into Dangerosity. It's going to happen in the next couple days. Talk to you then. Tuesday, December 29, 2009. Another quite recent annoyance has been apparent application lockup. Just what is causing that is unknown, but I suspect something in those annoying video ads which are popping up everywhere are the cause.
