A Lindenmayer system is a formal grammar often used to model the growth processes of plant development. Alternatively, an L-system can be used as a model to create novel forms. Ldquo;aab” uses a basic L-system model to create forms consisting of self-dividing aligned boxes. The process is similar to the one constructing a Menger Sponge, only that in the case of aab, randomness is used in a much higher degree, allowing the creation of a variety of forms. Aab version 0.4. The program simply assumes a solid rectangular volume which it recursively and randomly subdivides in parallel planes (like an L-System) or grids, removing random volumes in the process. Afterwards, it does a little bit of post-processing, creating holes and gaps between the volumes and presents the result on screen.
