Nickelpin: December 2011
http://nickelpin.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 23, 2011. Old stuff - roadster. I don't have anything new scanned right now so I thought I'd go digging back into history. This is a pretty old drawing from a while ago - and the start of all of these hours at the campus! I took the Intro to Communication Sketching class at Oakley and learned how to use chalk to create skytone reflections. One of the exercises was to create a drawing of a roadster, learning how to place reflections on a surface to depict a believable looking vehicle.

Nickelpin: Cat litterbox
http://nickelpin.blogspot.com/2012/05/cat-litterbox.html
Monday, May 7, 2012. I really like the ModKat litterbox. This is basically a re-package of the multi-layered SmartCat litterbox system. Which doesn't really have a lot of design options right now. The idea behind the SmartCat seems like a great way to halve the labor involved with litter box maintenance (without having to use a huge motorized catbox that needs electrical and/or water/waste access). Drawn during the ACAN Product Design: Process class with Stan Kong for our Pet Product assignment.

YVES YUMOL SKETCH BLOG: March 2010
http://creativecheckpoint.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 31, 2010. After trying to look more into the art fields, I decided take a path on being an Illustrator after taking my basic drawing class. what a jump! So what the heck? Why not take an Illustration class? This class was also taught by my former basic drawing teacher, which was also my figure drawing teacher the same semester. The class was composed mostly of critiques and a lot of homework doing thumbnails, refining, more refining, critiques, and more refining. Constructive criticism i...

Nickelpin: September 2011

Friday, September 9, 2011. Janelle Monae is one of my favorite performers! Doodling a new look for the android body. Kind of just looks like a regular jumpsuit and not an android though. Practice drawing human face when put into expressions. Links to this post. My first automobile project part 2. With this in mind I started going for a more geometric chunky look. I started by thinking of where to put the metal reinforcing bands and trying to keep it all somewhat triangular. Links to this post.

Nickelpin: October 2011
http://nickelpin.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 3, 2011. I learned how to use a crow quill pen! Our first assignment in Illustration was to use the crow quill pen for a fun illustration with the theme "Bots, Dots, Zits." I went a little crazy with excitement over using this old school pen for the first time. The scratchy feeling of the pen nib working against the paper, watching the ink flow from a drop on the pen to a smooth line on the paper - it's so satisfying. Links to this post. YVES YUMOL SKETCH BLOG: Digital Painting Practice
http://creativecheckpoint.blogspot.com/2013/08/digital-painting-practice.html
Saturday, August 31, 2013. I've been really needing to get up to speed on digital painting again. Some studies I did this past week: two from reference photos, a Sargent master copy, and a still life. More pots! I've been using as much as I can from what I've learned from traditional oil painting, but I'm also trying to learn how to make my own brushes. Also still using RGB sliders to get my colors because it's a lot closer to "mixing" colors the traditional way than using HSB sliders.
