From Conferences and Events. From Conferences and Events. What’s the point of attending conferences if you don’t come away with real advice? Salt Lake City’s first FanXperience event was April 17-19 and definitely worth it. The numerous panels broke up the day perfectly and several of them were lead by authors for authors. Being an unapologetic geek, Jay took extensive notes so to review later and marked the most important highlights to share. Spend It Doing What You Love. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Review: The Emperor’s Soul by Brandon Sanderson | Jay Naen

From Conferences and Events. Review: The Emperor’s Soul by Brandon Sanderson. May 10, 2014. Middot; by Jay Naen. Middot; in Novel. Middot; Leave a comment. I wanted to read a Brandon Sanderson book to get a feel for his style before committing to something significantly longer like his Mistborn series. I have mixed feelings about this being my preliminary view of him, but overall it was an enjoyable book. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public). We like to call it “editing” when it’s really treachery and betrayal. Not just to ourselves, but to our dreams. How many versions do you have of your novel? What do you think? Do you disagree completely? Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:.

From Conferences and Events. Saying Yes to Downhill. July 10, 2014. Middot; by Jay Naen. Middot; in Journal. Middot; Leave a comment. My chaotic and wonderful life has reached a downhill slope finally and I’m grateful for it. I went on a week long cruise (Mexico, Belize, Honduras) and came back to FantasyCon and WesterCon 67. Peace has been greatly missed. Until then though, I’m going back to taking a nap. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public). July 23, 2014.

I openly admit, I am one of those creepy people who will momentarily, or a bit longer than that, cease all brain activity when I come across an author I admire. I just stare for a moment and then when they make eye contact I not so subtly duck my head like a reprimanded dog. My favorite part was PERSIA. People think world building is about the physical landsca...

You’d think books and Youtube videos would have less in common. The next idea is that we take what is created and personalize it, spread it. It becomes part of the community and grows as people make it their own and join in. Being genuinely unique is how you get to the stage that tastemakers and the community get involved. From Conferences and Events. May 20, 2014. Middot; by Jay Naen. Middot; in Journal. Middot; Leave a comment. So I was working on creating a comprehensive guide to my galaxy. This week was about finally finishing up the map portion of it, naming the different systems and planets and figuring out why they were given that name. And being a geek means, I picked to utilize Latin. Where should the line be drawn? Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public). July 23, 2014.
