Yaakov Lyubetsky - Form Studies

http://www.yaakovl.com//formStudies.php

Four board stool is a study of an additive method for developing a form. The challenge required to create a functional stool that holds and displays a book of the designer’s choice, in my case Slaughter House Five. This is a study of designing a set of two simple forms that are a mirror image of each other. The salad tongs are made out of one solid piece of beech wood of fixed dimensions. The tongs feel comfortable in hands of users with both large and small hands, and work well for serving vario...Music...

Yaakov Lyubetsky - Construct: Lounge Chair

http://www.yaakovl.com//constructivist_lounge_chair.php

Exploring bespoke fabrication through woodworking and joinery. Inspired by The Russian Constructivist Movement. Of the 1920s, the Construct Lounge Chair uses simple geometric visual principals to create a clear hierarchy between the different chair elements. The walnut seat pan and back support are contrasted with aluminum legs to establish a dynamic stance. The chair was designed and built over the course of five weeks for Fundamentals of Joinery: Furniture Design. Flow Fitness: Kinetic Visualization.

Yaakov Lyubetsky - Google UX Internship

http://www.yaakovl.com//google.php

Researching, designing, and prototyping unique video storytelling tools. I interned at Google as a User Experience designer on the YouTube Creator team during the summer of 2013. I worked with designers, engineers, and project managers to design new features that enhance the content creation and curation experience for both mobile and web platforms. For my main project I worked collaboratively with another UX designer and a four person engineering team on the Capture 2.0. Which were launched in early 2015.

Yaakov Lyubetsky - Radio: Experimental Form

http://www.yaakovl.com//radio.php

Re-imagining the radio control experience. Requiring the user to pick up and wall mount the radio to turn on creates a ritualistic experience with a very simple feedback mechanism. If the radio is hanging on the wall it’s on, if the radio is laying on a flat surface then it’s off. The visual and auditory feedback allows the user to have a clear understanding of the system state. Flow Fitness: Kinetic Visualization. Project Loci: Haptically Enabled Backpack. BNY Mellon: Verge Application.

Yaakov Lyubetsky - Buffalo: Camping Bag

http://www.yaakovl.com//buffaloBag.php

Our goal was to take families with kids away from their TV dinners and to help them learn how to gather and make food in a natural setting. Taking from the Native American practice to use the whole animal, the Buffalo Bag utilizes each of its components in a resourceful way. Flow Fitness: Kinetic Visualization. Project Loci: Haptically Enabled Backpack. BNY Mellon: Verge Application. Frame: Interactive Story Telling. Music Tangibility: Interactive Speaker. The Pit: File Storage Redesign.
