I just had to post a note to thank Deva’s Finest for making the journey north to Bowness-on-Solway on the western end of Hadrian’s Wall to join with LEGIO VIII AVGVSTA in a torchlight parade through the village to the final beacon to be lit in the 84 mile “Line of Light” which stretched all the way there from Segedunum. Along with the “experienced” veterans of this event were a number of our “newer” miles who were keen to see if the campfire tales told of this now annual engaement, were truth or fable.
