A place to share your progress, finished objects, helpful tips, corrections, ideas for variations, and suggestions for materials for patterns from the Mason Dixon Knitting book. Thursday, August 31, 2006. Here's my Nina Scarf. The original pattern was for a shawl, but I just halved the cast on number and made a scarf. It's a Christmas gift for a friend of mine. Susan Knits in Bayou City: Knitting Frenzy
http://susanknitsinbayoucity.blogspot.com/2007/11/knitting-frenzy.html
Susan Knits in Bayou City. Saturday, November 10, 2007. I just looked at my last entry on this blog and was appalled to see that it has been over 3 weeks. Not that ever had many readers, but is anyone still out there? I am on a bit of a knitting frenzy - the holidays are coming! There are so many projects I want to knit for myself. So here's the latest batch of FO's. That's my feet they're modeled on. I knit and finished these right in front of him, and he never blinked. I quietly put them away i...Patte...

Susan Knits in Bayou City: April 2007
http://susanknitsinbayoucity.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
Susan Knits in Bayou City. Monday, April 30, 2007. Finished: One (Tedious) Baby Gift. It seemed like a good idea at the time. A co-worker down the hall is expecting her first baby this fall, and I've been wanting to try this cute kimono from Mason-Dixon Knitting. And I had a load of pastel colored cotton in my stash from a project I over-bought for. Burp cloth. And bibs? I have plenty of yarn left, I just don't want to see it any more! Saturday, April 28, 2007. Why am I doing this? Partly, too, I want to...

Susan Knits in Bayou City: June 2007
http://susanknitsinbayoucity.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
Susan Knits in Bayou City. Wednesday, June 27, 2007. Less than 48 hours until we board the plane to go to. I am so psyched! I booked two raft tours today - one whitewater, one scenic. That's very logical. But I remember spending a lot of time on lakes as a kid and being irrationally frightened at how deep the water was. When a cold draft would float by my legs, I'd have to remind myself not to scream. The fear never stopped me from jumping off a boat with a water ski, however. Monday, June 25, 2007.

Susan Knits in Bayou City. Thursday, May 31, 2007. The Cure for Acrylic. I am embarrassed to admit that I have quite a bit of acrylic in my stash. Some I bought when I was a college student and couldn't afford better. But most I bought during those manic episodes when, after months and months of no knitting, I declared "I must knit! I need new yarn! Well, friends, I have found the cure. Finger weaving! God bless whoever taught my two grade schoolers this craft! From the family room sofa. Although I've ne...

Susan Knits in Bayou City: Philadephia!
http://susanknitsinbayoucity.blogspot.com/2007/09/philadephia.html
Susan Knits in Bayou City. Tuesday, September 25, 2007. Sorry for my long absence - M and I visited Philadelphia over the weekend, and my schedule before and after were/will be so hectic that I spent most of last week scurrying to have everything ready for the trip and for this week. View from our hotel room:. One of the many fountains and many sculptures all over the city:. I had no idea that it was a statue before it was a postage stamp. Other notable sites: The museum. The reason for our visit was tha...

Susan Knits in Bayou City: Finished: Funky Camo Socks
http://susanknitsinbayoucity.blogspot.com/2007/09/finished-funky-camo-socks.html
Susan Knits in Bayou City. Thursday, September 27, 2007. Finished: Funky Camo Socks. I knit these for the most "unique" of my children - my middle son E. He picked the yarn and told me how he wanted them made: "only up to about here, and just a plain pattern, and not too loose 'cause I hate when my socks bunch up inside my shoe." Done:. When I asked him to model them for me, he thought they'd look good with his pajama pants:. But I don't want to knit them just yet so won't show him the pattern. Pattern: ...

Susan Knits in Bayou City: Remembering the Symphony
http://susanknitsinbayoucity.blogspot.com/2007/09/remembering-symphony.html
Susan Knits in Bayou City. Sunday, September 16, 2007. They guys - both sons and my husband - went on a Boy Scout "camp out" this weekend. Quotes because the troop went to Schlitterbahn. An enormous, old, and truly wonderful water park in central Texas. They pitched tents at a genuine BSA camp. Near by, but ate all their meals at the water park so as to maximize fun time. So "camping" is term loosely used. Last year, K had two good friends that I could never quite embrace. One was a girl I actively d...

Susan Knits in Bayou City: August 2007
http://susanknitsinbayoucity.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html
Susan Knits in Bayou City. Sunday, August 26, 2007. I took advantage of the quiet weekend to catch up on housework and to crank out some knitting. At long last, I have finished the front of Josephine:. And holding it up to my front, I believe it will fit as I wanted - draw cord below my bust, neckline saucy but wearable without an undershirt. I had been worried that my gage had become erratic, but it looks OK here, even without blocking:. Monday, August 20, 2007. Even though it took us triple the normal ...
